This.

Wont stop it growing though, if there's money to be made and the deceased's estate give permission, its gonna grow as the technology does.

Expect Elvis to be giving personal tours of Graceland soon.

it's sad but inevitable

they won't be getting my money tho. i can't stand these nostalgia trips - like bands playing their entire album from 1977 or 1983 or whatever. i kinda believe if you've nothing new to add then you shouldn't be there.
i know people like to hear 'the hits' & that's kinda ok. but if that's all you're capable of then 'i just say no thanks'...

not my cup of tea. but people need to make money so who am i to say they can't?

I actually completely agree with this, and thus the reason I skipped the Up Close and Personal 2012 leg for GN'R.

It gets old hearing the same stuff over and over. Axl thinks adding a 'new song' is "14 Years" or "Civil War", yet at the same time "doesn't want to live in the past".

I know it's all been said a thousand times, but it still perplexes me his logic.

But at the same time, if I had to choose a nostalgia act... the old band will win everytime, whatever form.

I thought it was really cool when the Cure played a trilogy concert in 2001(I think) in Berlin. They played the entire album in running order of Pornography(1983), then did Disintegration(1989), then did Bloodflowers(2000). They get a  pass though since Bloodflowers was a new album.

These hologram shows should be left to pavillions at Expo or something. Fucking weird if they go on tour 16

Yeah I know. I've heard Priscilla and Lisa Marie both publically denounce the 70's era, especially Lisa Marie who "hated it" -- her words.

Yet E's band, praises it as a golden era, as does the fans. I know that when I think of Elvis or wear Elvis shirts it's always Hawaii/Vegas-related stuff from the 1973-77 period. That's when he was a fucking rock star.

Back in the 50's he was just another pop act imho, other than the Sun Records debut stuff.

I'm not a big Elvis fan myself but when I picture Elvis it's always the 70's version for sure. As someone who never got inot Elvis that whole Hawaii/Vegas related stuff like you said Axlin is what's ingrained into my mind. When I think of young Elvis I think of Christmas songs

I guess not technically the 70's but this is what's engrained in my mind when I think of Elvis. He looked like such a bad ass in this show. I knwo it was made for tv and it was his "comeback"  but still he was a total stud here. No doubt THIS version of Elvis played a huge part in Bono's inspiration for The Fly. Also his voice just booms. Been listening to a lot of Elvis today since discussing this thread. Might have to give the guy a second chance cause I'm into it big time right now.

Had he not died Russ what do you think he would've accomlished in the 80's?  How old was he when he died?

I always wonder who's death had a bigger impact. I tend to think Lennon's did but I wouldn't really know since I was not born when Elvis died and only 4 when Lennon died.
