Yeah, that's the spirit. LIve Era 87-93 is almost NOT live, given all the overdubs.

Tonight I'll compile and update the list with the suggestions so far.

Just fyi, "i'm working on it" to quote Chris Rea.

I think the greatest show in a VERY long time was in 2009 at Tokyo....it's pretty much the goto show for any of the less played CD era tracks...and most of them sounded amazing IMO as Axl had a lot of rasp going on....

It's pretty much the mother of all modern era setlists....I'd go nuts for a proshot of this shit.

December 16th, 2009 - Osaka, Japan @ Kyocera Dome Osaka

Setlist:
Chinese Democracy
Welcome To The Jungle
It's So Easy
Mr. Brownstone
Shackler's Revenge,
If The World
Richard Fortus Guitar Solo (James Bond),
Live And Let Die,
Sorry,
Rocket Queen,
Prostitute
Dizzy Reed Piano Solo (Ziggy Stardust)
Street of Dreams
Scraped,
Frank Drum Solo
You Could Be Mine
Jam (Waiting On A Friend)
Axl Piano Solo (Goodbye Yellow Brick Road/Someone Saved My Life Tonight)
November Rain
I.R.S.
Dj Ashba Guitar Solo (The Ballad of Death)/
Sweet Child O' Mine
Catcher In The Rye

I seriously haven't heard a good performance of Prostitute live.

Yeah a best of would have to cut SOME songs from Chinese (even though I agree as many of them as possible should make the cut), Prostitute is one. I'd have to check Scraped & Catcher also. I know the rest have solid performances elsewhere, whether Axl and the band or just one or the other.

The rest of the album would be padded with old GN'R songs and the bonuses would be covers like Sailing, Down On The Farm, and Whole Lotta Rosie.

Sailing is one of my top Axl performances. That would have been a great solo moment for Robin to go into with Axl and then lead into SCOM.

Like this would have been a killer intro into Nightrain:

Does anyone remember the madagsascar version in 2002 where Axl sang a slightly different melody line after the solo in the last chorus....it was beautiful...that should make the cut....along with sailing which was the bomb....scraped in tokyo has killer new drumming in the intro...

Believe it or not, I did work on it.

I just want to say what a joyous experience it was to put this together (just a tracklist), but I went through hours and hours and hours of bootleg videos, old MP3 soundboards, lossless files I had to dig up from years past.

How melancholy it was for me. SO many memories flooded back. The good times, the bad times, the failed expectations and false hope, but the times of "this band is gonna do it".

I had so much fun doing this, and for me this is probably your best "new" Live Era.

Comments:

I did include "three" solos. I think it's only fair to highlight the band some, as it's not all about Axl. DJ's solo intros SCOM, Bucket's solo intros Shackler's, and Robin's solo intros Better. Axl's Prostitute piano solo intro is used to open November Rain.

Most of Chinese is showcased, as is proper. No versions of Scraped & Prostitute, as really good ones don't exist (from what I heard). Oh My God & Silkworms from Rio III are thrown in to compensate.

Think About You was a song that the new band made their own imo, so it was included, as it was something the old band didn't really do much past 1986. Whole Lotta Rosie was also included, as it was pretty representative as a cover for the 2009-12 band.

Cut tracks that were considered included My Michelle at Download 2006, Sailing at Wembley 2006, Down On The Farm at LA 2006, Nice Boys at London 2010, and Dead Flowers 2012.

P.S.

I have no clue if trimmed, mastered versions of these songs will fit on two CD's. The solos could be cut to make room if necessary, if not other alterations could be made. Either way this is my take on what should be there, and the best of "as good as it's gonna get".

You're welcome. I took another look at this again today and didn't even realize that I didn't include a clip for Brownstone, and I also didn't realize CD 1 features 16 tracks, rather than 15 tracks. Error on my part. I threw in Catcher, last minute and forgot to re-rank them and adjust the whole thing.

I might work this and see if you could make a decent, stable sounding album out of it. But that will require work and be on the list of "when I get to it".

I'm pretty sure i've got soundboards of all of this around. Other than the Orlando This I Love performance which is a VERY high quality YouTube audio. I included because I was there, and I still swear up and fuckin' down that This I Love Orlando 2011 was the best performance of that song ever. Not only did DJ hit his marks in an emotive moment soloing, but Axl's voice was so solid that even live he was basically showing off, holding screams longer, than smiling when the crowd applauded him.

The coolest, Chinese Democracy-exclusive moment i've ever been apart of GN'R-wise.

Re: Guns N' Roses Live! Era 2001/2012

Yeah that Orlando show was quite amazing! DJ knows how to make that solo his own. Axl has gotten alot better singing that song live. Wish you the best of luck on organizing the songs and all the other stuff that goes along with it.
