Starting to understand why you don't like CD Buzz
What do you think of "If the World"?
I think the vocal melody is really pretty, and it shows off Axl's voice the way the softer numbers like "Since I don't have you" did back in the day....
It's been forever since I listened to it and I am not going to listen to it just to answer your question. Color me unimpressed.
I've always been a guitar/music guy, and I've never made a secret of it. Not sure why you'd sufddenly get that from me now after all these years...
The lyrics on CD are lame compared to the Illusions albums. They're compareable to AFD in that they reflect the music. Unfortunately the music on CD blows in comparison to AFD.

No disrespect buzz, it just drives me nuts when people hate on everything slash has done just cos it lacks axls voice, and like wise everything Axl does just cos it lack's slash's tone. Doesn't sound to me like you've really given any of this stuff an opened minded listen.
If you posted and said you don't like a slash song - yet you ignored the guitars in it then refused to listen to it again, I'd find that pretty silly, and that's what you just did about Axl....you just said you ignore the lyrics, haven't listened to it in years and don't want to even for discussion but persist in saying that the album is bad..and insisting everyone agrees...just seems an unsustainable position to me.
Re: Slash on Piers Morgan
Something that sells alot immediately and stops selling immediately tells the story. To you, it tells some made up story. To me it says people didn't like what they heard. the funny thing is, neither of us will be able to prove the other is wrong, yet here you are continuing to try to do so. Crazy, but keep going if you must.
What do you expect "the most anticipated album of all time" to sell like? I'd imagine it'd sell pretty well out of the gates, then fall off. Most albums fall off after a few weeks, unless they're unknown or are slow builders. An album that was leaked to death and opinions had been drawn on it years before its release probably didn't have a good chance at "picking up steam". Especially when you consider the lack of promo and the fact that they didn't tour to promote the album for a full year after its release. I don't see how the greatest album of all time could sustain huge sales numbers put in the same context. I know what you are trying to point out, but I think you are negating a number of important factors.

Re: Slash on Piers Morgan
Only hardcores were interested in the leaks and they bought the album anyway.
The fact that 'the most anticipated album of all time' () sold much less than AC/DC's Black Ice and Metallcia's Death Magnetic, which were bands in the league og the GN'R brand's and their albums came out in the same time; and the fact that after 2 weeks nobody bought a copy, no new fans came, proves that this album didn't express the world. It did express MisterID and a few others, but outside of the forums, nobody's talking about this record anymore, while AFD and the UYIs are still mentioned randomly. The big project failed. That's how it is. And it's not because the whole world is against Axl, it's because people didn't like too much what they heard. Simple as that.
Before anyone comes with Macarena or Hit Me Baby One More time again to 'prove' (:laugh::laugh:) that quality has nothing to do with quantity. You're just playing the usual hijack card. It's a huge rock band's album, so compare it to others' in this genre. AC/DC and Metallica, here they come. Black Ice and Death Magnetic weren't good albums, but still sold much better than CD. But rock fans didn't like CD. No other music fan liked CD. I hardly picture that people arounf the world went in denial, just to hurt Axl's sales and give a hard time for the believers. It's not a conspiracy.
This album wasn't good enough. That's it. It's not bad or horrible, but wasn't good enough. I'd say next time he could come up with a better record, but I'm not even sure that there will be next time, knowing Axl's history.
Re: Slash on Piers Morgan
I never said I didn't mention YAL. I said I didn't bring up TWAT, which you said I did.
We all see things how we want. You're as guilty as anyone. The difference is I acknowledge that and you insist that the way you see it is the right way. I just tend to see things the way most people do, that's all. Doesn't make me more or less right, it just means more people agree with me (for whatever that is worth).
Who considers the REM album their best work? I've NEVER heard anybody say that about that album, and I'm a pretty big fan. Weezer's had better albums. I'd love to know who you're polling when making these clamis...
I was about to post that we are never going to win this argument as we're both viewing it with our own facts and views. I have no problem admitting that. Now, how about that 5 guys burger. You're buying, right?
I said Most of those albums, man... Pinkerton, Pet Sounds, Berlin, VU with Nico, Paul’s Boutique, The Fragile...
Bono, it was a cute post because you're like a kid trying to get that square block in the round hole. And for me to continue on with you is kind of like that slinky on the treadmill... It just keeps going and going, but it isn't going anywhere and after a while, you realize you're just wasting your time. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. But by all means, keep on. You don't need my help to rant nonsensically.

I ignore the lyrics on AFD and UYI too...I'm not just picking on CD. I've NEVER been a lyrics guy and it's always been about the music with rock music for me. If I like something musically enough, the lyrics may grow on me, but it drives my wife nuts that when GnR songs come on the radio, I'm humming or whistling the guitar parts. That's what I hear. I don't really care if that drives you nuts.
CD is a horrible guitar album. It has no flow to it at all. I didn't make it that way, I just listen for it more than others. I'm not going to change what I like about music to please anybody else. You're just going to have to accept that's how I feel and that given how I listen to rock music, I absolutely gave it a fair listen. If I hadn't, I would have hated TWAT too.

They don't fall off like CD did. Funny how people forget the sales threads bragging on how great it was doing, then about 3 weeks in they suddenly stopped updating it. You guys remember what you want to remember about it, which is fine, but don't make up stuff to justify what happened. They are still touring on the album 4 years later - I think the only revivial it ever had was when BB gave away copies. You can claim whatever you want to claim...people were interested at $1.99, so they had no problem getting them from their local BB then, did they?
People just didn't like it. Why can't you guys accept that? It's okay. It shouldn't keep you from enjoying it.

5 Guys makes me sick...too greasy. Plus I never make it over to that side of town...I avoid it like the plague.

I have no problem accepting anything. I realize a lot of people didn't like the album. I've never said anything contradicting that. But for you to pretend like there weren't other factors at play is unfair in my mind. That's all I'm saying. And I don't need to outline all these factors for the 900th time. We all know they existed. But if you want to solely go on the fact that nobody bought the album after 2 weeks because they didn't like it, fine. You're free to believe that. All I'm saying, is that wasn't the ONLY factor at play. Not sure why you can't accept THAT.
