Re: Just saw this, great GNR cover!
Saw this cover of "November Rain". I liked it and though I would share.
Re: Just saw this, great GNR cover!
That was fantatsic. I honestly believe that as years and decades go by November Rain is gonna be the one song from Gn'R's catelogue that transcends time. There's the big three(that can't really be coverd properly) and then there's November Rain which in some weird way is like the hidden jewel even though it was insanely popular at the time and was a highschool dance classic for like 10 years after it's release. It's one song I can see being remade more and more as the years go by and eventually a cover version is gonna end up in a romantic comedy down the line.

This is great! I love the mellow chill vibe that she brings to the classic GNR tune. Love that she brought some horns and synth into the mix too. November Rain is such a deep song if you really look into and shows Axl's great abilities as both a singer and song writer. That's why I love the song besides just the bombastic production on the song and the music video.

I fucking ADORE that old acoustic version that Slash uses the 12 string acoustic in. Axl sounds so fucking heartfelt, sad and heartbroken.
Like you Scabbie, I was shocked at the super deluxe, 1000 toppings version that got released.
Re: Just saw this, great GNR cover!
You know what makes this a good cover?
She sings it with passion and soul. It's not just a cover for the sake of covering it. And I agree with Bono, November Rain is gonna be the GN'R song to live on and become their trademark. I think that's because lyrically and musically it transfers to pretty much any genre of music, or different form of rock. I.e., it can be done it's original way, as a soft piano song, as a hairband power ballad, and also as a Jar of Flies-type acoustic grunge song.
Alot of people always said NR was too sappy, but personally I think that's SCOM. It's not a slag on the song, but yeah lyrically SCOM is just too power ballad.
