Re: Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees Dead at 62
RIP! Feel terrible for his family. He helped make some great music!
Re: Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees Dead at 62
Barry Gibb for new VR singer?
Seriously though, RIP Robin. they wrote and recorded some of the best harmonies that have ever been recorded and did so in a lot of different styles and genres. For those that think the Bee Gees were just disco, do some research.
Re: Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees Dead at 62
yea i love that song too russ but by far my fave bee gees song, & one of my all time fave songs ever, is I Started a Joke.
it's one of those rare songs that i rem everything about the first time it found me. i was just obsessed w/it the whole evening tho i could only rem a snippet of it eventually. when i next got home i immediately set about researching it only to find to my surprise it was those fking creepy disco guys who sang it! i got it & just listened to it on repeat for like the next 3 weeks. it's like one of those songs you hear & you think, "shit that's what they should play @ my funeral.. if anyone shows up". it's just perfect. it's just one of those songs that is all but deathly sad but hilarious for it's matter-of-fact acceptance of the absurd. it's a song that just gets it.
& most of the songs power is derived by the delivery & voice of robin. it is absolutely one of the greatest songs i've ever heard sung.
up there w/waylon & dreaming my dreams etc.

I cant stand I Started A Joke. My uncle used to play that song years ago and it almost drove me crazy. That disco stuff is top notch and takes me back to preschool and kindergarten. I also love that song Alone that they released in the late 90s.
One of the greatest songs ever.....
RIP. I listen to the hits albums on a regular basis and always will.

Being everyone is posting songs, I might as well up it... my absolute FAVORITE Bee Gees tune.

I think I love it, because I grew up with my Dad playing the hell out of it, and serenading my mom with it.
Very personal

I played the shit out of this as a kid. One of those songs you play over and over and over, on repeat.
Which was difficult with a cassette tape. I would play it, and rewind. Play it and rewind.
One of the first (it might've BEEN the first, or Tina Turner's Private Dancer), albums I ever owned was that Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.
