Re: Anyone watch M3 tonight? Ratt
Just flipping around when I came across the end of some hair band festival called M3. Caught the last 4-5 songs Skid.Row did. Horrible.
But what was worse was Ratt came on next. Can anyone more familiar with recent Ratt tell me.if Pearcy's voice.is.always as shot as it sounded tonight? It's god.awful. He's got maybe 2 notes in his bag right now.
Re: Anyone watch M3 tonight? Ratt
Pearcy live, because his voice is so unique, and probably one of the more original ones from the glam scene, like Axl... Pearcy can be touch and go. Some nights he nails it, and other nights his voice is fuckin' shot.
Age was not kind to alot of them from that scene (Axl included). It wrecked their voices singing like that.
Pearcy in the studio is still vintage, and Ratt's comeback album Infestation was solid, but Pearcy live can be rough these days. Like Axl, he has more bad shows than good these days.
Re: Anyone watch M3 tonight? Ratt
I liked Infestation. I just couldn't believe how bad he was last night. Keifer's one of my favorite voices of the era when he's on. Night Songs is criminally overlooked as a badass debut album. I just found out they heading my way this summer. Probably gomna get tix. You never know when Tom's throat will go out again.
Re: Anyone watch M3 tonight? Ratt
Pearcy, along with Tom Keifer (from Cinderella) and Jeff Keith (from Tesla) are the same: real hit or miss.
I caught a little of the Ratt performance because a friend posted on fb that Skids were terrible.
Skids were like a wedding band version of themselves. I only saw maybe 5 songs and he can't handle Baz's stuff which was all they played. It was fucked.
Re: Anyone watch M3 tonight? Ratt
I actually skipped over Cinderella back in the day, kinda like Warrant. Like i'd rather find something else, and no other reason than that usually.
Then I walked into a Wal-Mart (in the present day), about 7-8 years ago when rock tee's were all the rage again, and no shit, in a fuckin' Wal-Mart in like 2005, there was a Cinderella shirt.
I was like "Wtf?" You've got Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Nirvana, Bon Jovi, Pearl Jam, U2.... Cinderella.
Anyways it made me pick up Night Songs and Long Cold Winter, and I was blown away how good it was. Sorely underrated, I thought it was better than Jovi.
Re: Anyone watch M3 tonight? Ratt
Those first two albums were really really good. Keep in mind, that's Tom Keifer writing/singing/playing lead. The dude is immensely talented, but unfortunately not super prolific.
I couldn't get into Heartbreak Station as much- there were a few good songs, but it wasn't as good as the previous two. Then a few years ago, I finally picked up Still Climbing. That turned out to be a really solid album that just suffered for lack of fan base. The hardcores seem to be really into it, but it gets little live play.
