Actually there is a huge difference between Gilby and new era members. Gilby is looked at by the general public as a legit member of Guns N' Roses. He was in all the music videos that came after YCBM. he's in the only official live DVD, he's on Live Era, he played on TSI and is pictured on the inside of TSI booklet. he toured with the band on their biggest tour ever AND was name dropped at the RRHOF as a past member. There is a big difference between the hired hand Gilby and the hired hands of the new era. Gilby contributed more and was more involved with the real Gn'R legacy than any of the current members regardless of their writting credits or not. Gilby will go down and has gone down as a much more legit member of Guns in the eyes of the public than anyone in the current band. Just the way it is.

I just asked my brother this question with every band member. Who is a more legit member of Guns N' Roses; Gilby Clarke or _______? Buckethead was the only guy he said maybe to because "he replaced Slash and everyone knows him for that". Every other member he said no to. Including Robin Finck. When I said Ron Thal he said "Who?
Just saying. I think it's ridculous to say there's no difference between Gilby Clarke and new era members. Maybe not technically but there's a HUGE FUCKING DIFFERENCE perception wise. And perception is reality.
I don't care what the fucking public thinks! The majority of the people in the world are morons. Gilby is a scrub just like the rest of the hired hands. Reality is reality in my world. Sorry. I just don't agree.

Don't agree all you want and in the end you're just a nerd on a message board who over analyzes everything like we all do. Difference is some of us can accept what the perecption really is. To argue a guy like Ruchard Fortus has played an equal part in the story of Guns N' Roses as Gilby Clarke did is asinine. I had posters of Guns N' Roses with Gilby Clarke on my wall back in the day. Where's the posters with Tommy, Fortus, Finck, BH etc etc etc. Gilby Clarke was a part of Guns N' Roses when Guns N' Roses ruled the world. There's a huge difference between Gilby Clarke and the new era guys whether you ro other's choose to acknowldeg it or not. When it's all said and done and the Gn'R story is told Gilby's part in it is much more important than the hired hands of the CD era. If they made a movie of Guns N' Roses he'd play a prominent role in the Illusion era. the CD era of a movie would be glossed over as a foot note with a bunch of nobody's so....

I guarantee you most people don't even know who the fuck Gilby is. I mean, besides your brother.
The fact you pretend to not understand the meaning behind "perception is reality" and that you don't comprehend the point being made makes you look like a goof. A person's perception is their reality. It's how people choose to see things. Figure it out. Unbelievable that you would think you're being smart by even questioning the merrit of that when all it does is make you look like a dumbass.
I guararentee you way more people know who Gilby Clarke is than Richard Fortus and most(its not even close) will say he played a way more important role as a member of Guns N' Roses than Fortus as well as the other hired hands in Gn'R today.
You talk about the romanticism some of us have for Gilby well thats' cool. We'll carry on with that while you continue to direct the X-rated movie in your mind with current Gn'R members.
