Re: Gotta Love Adler: RS Interview "I'm done with him"
I was always curious as to why Gilby wasn't given the nod for VR. I guess they were trying to move away from the GNR image a little...but still....seemed like the obvious go-to guy for rhythm stuff after izzy.

Okay, if it makes you feel better, Gilby specifically showed up like a superhero to help out the fans. They called him up, "Hey Gilby, can you help out the fans and show up to the HOF?" "Of course, thanks for inviting me so I can perform in Izzy's place for the fans. I'm glad Dave Kushner wasn't available to help the fans!"
Over the top stupid comment. Dave Kushner would not make sense. Gilby was the guy if Izzy couldn't be there. Sorry you lack the ability to recognize this. Anyone else other than Gilby(if it wasn't Izzy) would've been STUPID. You trying to pass it off as though he didn't do anything cool for the guys and for the fans at RRHOF is just ignorant on your part. Brutally ignorant. Anyone with a brain can understand how cool it was to see Gilby up there with the guys as opposed to some random fill in.
misterID wrote:Gilby has done fuck all in GN'R compared to the other guys. End of story. You like him? Fine, don't matter to me.
You're fucked if you think Gilby did nothing for Guns N' Roses. Typical new era fanboy bullshit
Nice, attacks because someone disagrees with you, per usual. This is supid. Gilby is lame. He performed on the same stage as Slash and Axl. That's his big contribution. You love him, congrats.
Let me make this real simple: Gilby accepted the invite to the HOF for the same reason he accepted the invite to join GN'R: For himself, first and foremost. And there is nothing wrong with that. Anything for the fans was secondary to doing this for himself.
Go get some therapy for your anger problem.
The funny thing is, Bono, you rail against Axl and his problems, but you CLEARLY have more issues than he does, especially how shitty you treat people.
And once again you explain literally NO REASON why you have the distaste, bias, outward hatred of, and literally re-writing of history of Gilby's involvement in GN'R.
Dave Kushner? Seriously? Smart ass comments like that just proves Gilby must've fucked your sister or something, because no one can figure out what you deal MUSICALLY is with him, and his involvement with GN'R.
"He didn't do anything with them", other than spend more important dates with GN'R in 2 and a half years than Richard Fortus has spent in 10 years, not to mention Gilby recording an album with them.
But that's okay, he did "fuck all". And just remember before you reply, if you reply, Fortus contributions on Chinese was simply re-recording Paul's stuff here and there.
But Gilby did "fuck all".
Seriously, it's not so much that you're not entitled to your opinion, but your opinion, anyone's opinion has to have some sort of logical origin. Your's on Gilby seems to escape us, and you yourself based on the public knowledge or personal or musical opinions you've shared with us other than "Richard's better".

Who's got issues? Are you really needlessly and irrelevantly coming to the defence of Axl and saying I shouldn't speak about him because I have more issues than Axl? Dude all you know of me is my posts on this site. You're fucking hilarious. Might need some therapy yourself I'm thinking.

actually, Gilby re-recorded Izzy's stuff on SI....an album of cover songs! Richard has just as many writing credits as Gilby and Matt. That would be 0...NONE. There is absolutely no difference between Richard, Gilby or even Ron....nada.
Now, regarding the RRHOF, IT WAS VERY APPROPRIATE FOR HIM TO FILL IN FOR IZZY. No doubt. He is the hired hand for the old band and he did his job well....but he was just a hired hand.

Re: Gotta Love Adler: RS Interview "I'm done with him"
The difference is Gilby was a hired hand in the band's prime at the pinnacle of their public success in the infamous UYI world tour of unprecedented notoriety in what was at the time the most controversial band in the world.
Richard is a hired hand in a band of the same name that is not recognised as legitimate by a massively overwhelming percentage of the rock world and has been characterised by decades of lost productivity, aborted false starts, fuck ups (from releasing the album, to throwing out fans in shirts to god knows what else) and is notorious only as an example of how to completely tarnish your brand and or repetitively burn your fan-base (who you passively aggressively hate).
I'd go on the record as saying neither of these situations are Richard's or Gilby's doing...but I wouldn't be throwing stones at Gilby..he's got plenty of GNR in his blood.
Re: Gotta Love Adler: RS Interview "I'm done with him"
nobody is throwing stones at Gilby...popularity of the band has nothing to do with the fact that he was a hired hand who replaced Izzy. No better or worse than all the hired hands that came after him.
The time he was in Gnr was also the most bloated, obnoxious, self indulgent period of the band ever. Two sides to that coin. You all know my feelings on the issue. Gnr became Axl's band in Nov 91....as soon as the ink dried on Izzy's resignation. Everything after that has been Axl's Orchestra...from Zig Zag to Mother Goose and the other 800 casualties in between.
Re: Gotta Love Adler: RS Interview "I'm done with him"
Actually there is a huge difference between Gilby and new era members. Gilby is looked at by the general public as a legit member of Guns N' Roses. He was in all the music videos that came after YCBM. he's in the only official live DVD, he's on Live Era, he played on TSI and is pictured on the inside of TSI booklet. he toured with the band on their biggest tour ever AND was name dropped at the RRHOF as a past member. There is a big difference between the hired hand Gilby and the hired hands of the new era. Gilby contributed more and was more involved with the real Gn'R legacy than any of the current members regardless of their writting credits or not. Gilby will go down and has gone down as a much more legit member of Guns in the eyes of the public than anyone in the current band. Just the way it is.

*Edit
Oh except maybe Buckethead because "he's the guy that replaced Slash"
I just asked my brother this question with every band member. Who is a more legit member of Guns N' Roses; Gilby Clarke or _______? Buckethead was the only guy he said maybe to because "he replaced Slash and everyone knows him for that". Every other member he said no to. Including Robin Finck. When I said Ron Thal he said "Who?
Just saying. I think it's ridculous to say there's no difference between Gilby Clarke and new era members. Maybe not technically but there's a HUGE FUCKING DIFFERENCE perception wise. And perception is reality.
Re: Gotta Love Adler: RS Interview "I'm done with him"
I've explained it many times, Axlin. I think Gilby is lame. That's my personal taste. I don't like his guitar playing. I have not thrown any "hatred" at him. You guys seem to bust a nut over him. Fine. I have no problem with anyone liking him, whatsoever.
From where I stand his only contributions for having "GN'R in his blood" is that he recorded Izzy's parts on TSI? and played on stage with Slash and Axl at the end of their relationship as bandmates.
In my personal opinion, he did not bring anything great or special out of Slash or contributed anything original to GN'R, not even so much as an original song or even an original note. So, he's basically on the level as Fred Coury, but Gilby was officially a member. But don't let me get in the way of the Gilby romanticism.

No, this has nothing to do with "defending Axl" it has to do with your lack of people skills and your douchey, unnecessary aggressive behavior. I seriously hope you don't act in real life the way you do on this site. If that's the case then good for you.
