The Beach Boys Celebrate 50 Years With New Single
by Andrew Tijs on April 24, 2012
The Beach Boys cheer their anniversary – and the radio – with their new ultra-harmonic, radio-praising single.
Mike Love, Al Jardine, Brian Wilson and David Marks launch the first new single ‘That’s Why God Made The Radio’ from their forthcoming album in a video teaser.
Mike Love says, “It’s kind of an accolade to the radio and what it has meant to so many millions and millions of people.”
Brian Wilson says that radio was his education, where he discovered Chuck Berry, Rosemary Clooney, The Four Freshmen, and Phil Spector.
Al Jardine says of the single, “If you like harmony, man, this is going to knock your socks off!”
Judging from what you can hear in the background, he ain’t kidding. ‘That’s Why God Made The Radio’ will be released this Friday 27 April, with the new album due out in June.

Hey Russ, I was wondering the price range of the tickets for the show? I'm glad that they are making music again and I may give the new album a listen. I don't think I'll attend the shows; but I'll keep an eye out if some of the footage is good on youtube and the reviews of the shows from fans. I'm just glad they finally released Smile. They were able to get all those stupid lawsuits and business deals taken care of. Now we only have Black Sabbath to deal with.

Oh cool! Enjoy the show! Yeah ticketmaster has been a pain for me as well; but I use them because in DC or in NC shows are quite an amount when in big venues. I just think Live Nation and Ticketmater's operations are full of shit though. I tried to see the venue costs and they were actually more which I found strange. Prehaps, I will try the box office more and see what I can find. Tired of the fees and wish for better deals at times. After seeing Foo Fighters live and Van Halen, I'm not too worried now! Those bands were worth every penny me and my friends spent on tickets and the show! Just going to save my money for bands I really want to see and that I have loved for quite awhile. I try to get okay seating that allows me and my friends to see at least all or most of the stage as well as the video screens. If that happens, then I'm happy as a clam!

Woww!! That's quite impressive for those guys! Glad they added alot of touring musicians and video multimedia and audio equipment to help out with the show. 40 or more songs in over 2 1/2 hours. Damn! I guess you will be getting more for your money at the show you go to, Russ.
