giving 100% in the shows, being ready for the tours when they start, mixing things up a bit more on the setlists, making an effort to do something (anything) with the CD sessions music, releasing pro-shot DVDs of the new band to sell how good they are as GnR to the public, writing and recording with the new guys in an effort to move forward, etc.  I don't want all of that for me, but I'd respect him a LOT more if he did it.

would be thinking.....

yeah, and id be a lot more willing to:

release new music if so and so wouldn't fuck it up

be more professional for shows if lame ass security could keep the cameras out

release live dvd's if they wouldn't all be pirated

I have to admit, I get that.

If he'd be the man he proclaims to be, he'd be having a ball with the new band promoting ALL-NEW material, with setlists as random as the UYI tour.

LOL - probably.

But as far as the DVDs go, it doesn't matter if they are pirated.  They aren't done to make money...he can pirate them himself.  The point is to show people how well they play the GnR material.  For all we know, people still think Finck is still screwing up Slash's solos.  He can even pick and choose from all the different shows they've done...they have to be able to find a time when he nailed each song even if it's from a bunch of different shows and the band is almost always tight.  You'll still get the people like me that think the band doesn't quite sound right, but most people only care that they hit the right notes and never cared about the feel...it's the same reason people outside the boards are more or less okay with Myles while many of us cringe.

You know, I would respect Axl to a degree, if he had the balls at least to write down his true motives. But instead we've got an 1,000 word rambling essay and another one about evertything, but the cause. Reading it is like analyzing a politician's shady, double talkin' liar speech: only the real motive is missing, as the word 'Slash' does not even appear in either of his statements. So some fans (interestingly enough: those who denied earlier that he wouldn't go) are acting like it'd be Axl's rebellious move against the corporate music industry and the lack of credibility the Hall has for not inducting KISS and Rush.
Seriously. How can these people live their daily life if they are so out of touch of reality and common sense?

There's no such thing as a "right" place or time.  The right place and time is wherever and whenever it happens.  If it had happened at the HoF, it would have been just as magical.  NOBODY would have said it sucked because they were "forced" to do it.

Again, I don't think Axl can release live DVD's of the new band. Pretty sure using any AFD/UYI music has to be approved through the old guys.
