Re: Universal Develops ‘The Rockford Files’ For Vince Vaughn To Play James
Whew... I just... that's gonna be tough. I can't see anybody other than Vaughn playing it, but at the same time...
James Garner is iconic as Jim Rockford. Granted he was also iconic as Bret Maverick, and Mel Gibson came in and gave a decent performance making the role his own, while co-starring with Garner.
You know what would be a nice twist?
Have Vaughn play Jim Rockford, and bring back James Garner to play Rockford's spunky and out spoken father Rocky, who was on the series. Garner is just the right age for the role. The supporting cast is key, as it was on the series. It might work, The A-Team was a decent remake, all of the cast had chemistry and were funny together, and had a similar spirit about them.

Hmm, which Cannell series gets turned into a film next. I'm saying either Greatest American Hero or Hunter. I believe a script is already written and being shopped for Hunter, and Greatest American Hero still has a HUGE cult fanbase worldwide.
