Re: RIP Levon Helm
one of my all time favorites...damn.....they don't make em like this anymore
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOi0tC00Luc
Back with my wife in Tennessee, when one day she called to me
"Virgil, quick, come see, there go the Robert E.Lee"
Now I don't mind choppin' wood, and I don't care if the money's no good
Ya take what ya need and ya leave the rest
But they should never have taken the very best
Re: RIP Levon Helm
god he sings that so well, esp those ^ last two lines.
& esp on the last waltz. it's not 'perfect', cause he's drumming at the same time! but it's fucking IMMENSE.
ah.... so many good nights w/that film as the soundtrack. would come back after a night out and fire it on in the wee hours (or, depending on how bad things got before going out not actually make it out & sit-in & watch that film instead!)
fucking legend.
edit - oh that link is the last waltz performance. sheer brilliance.
