A couple of guys quit a band, and got replaced by some guys....

Usually, those guys got trashed for taking the place of the old guys.

This time around, a guy quits an award show (and in many ways the band) and the replacement gets praise for "tolerating the pressure."

Now isn't that funny?

So i guess Axl was in the right then to take control of the band name and reduce the people who founded the band and who added massive creative contributions to paid employees?

By default That's what you're saying. As that's the common thread between those 2 situations. Replacement members were needed in the band Axl's behaviours drove out the old members. Replacment members were needed at the hall because of Axl.

The hall called Axl by the wrong name, and for that he has the right to be pissed. But that doesn't seem to be his problem with the event. It's more likely it's that he doesn't want them inducting matt and wants them to recognise the modern band.

Hey I love Chinese Democracy...but GNR is an all time famous band because of AFD and UYI and the contributions of the old members - in Axl's world that's not true (see how Slash "runined" uYI) - the hall wants him to see that truth and he'd rather stay at home.

Watched a couple of excerpts, it just made me sad. Myles, ffs. Axl shoulda been up there, it would've been ten minutes out of his life. Would it have made any appreciable difference to him in the long run?

No difference at all mate. Wouldn't it have been great to see them all smile and embrace, hate over. They wrote the soundtrack to my youth, I love them al for that. I wish the end could have been a happy one.
