Re: RRHoF Discussion (Izzy/Slash/Axl Press Statements)
misterID wrote:Just read an article on yahoo about it. Billy Joe Armstrong and Matt Sorum come off pretty good in it. Didn't really mention anything about the others except Slash, about Perla telling him to go. Basically it was about Axl not showing up.
So Axl stole the show without even showing up. Classic.
Which is why I thought it was pretty fuckin' dick, and grandstanding of him to drop that letter 3 days before the event.
The damn thing was frontpage on Yahoo, and is pretty much all the media has talked about since the middle of the week, and including during the show.
Every headline has read, "Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame rocks on without Axl Rose"
Other than the Lana Del Ray thing, Axl hasn't trended like this in quite sometime. Even at Rio IV it was a blip, one day then gone. But with reunion talk, once again...
Axl fucking off from this, just laid EVEN MORE INTENSE PRESSURE ON HIM to reunite.
The fans get, "not gonna happen" at this point, but the media is gonna be even more dick about it. No chance new GN'R has in America without going the Eddie Trunk/Rocklahoma/low-key route for the hardcores.

u know something
Gonna take a moment to give Myles Kennedy a lot props and respect.
The amount of balls it had to take to get onstage under this pressure and microscope to perform must have been unreal.
I agree. The same amount of respect for Gilby for showing up and playing, when he wasn't even inducted.
and thanks to all the guys who made this night, played and didn't let it be as bitter as some hoped to be. You are class acts. Can't wait to see the videos! Now I'll check if some decent audio is available somewhere.

I heard this story once...
A couple of guys quit a band, and got replaced by some guys....
Usually, those guys got trashed for taking the place of the old guys.
This time around, a guy quits an award show (and in many ways the band) and the replacement gets praise for "tolerating the pressure."
Now isn't that funny?

I have already answered to this bullshit, read back. It's not even the same story. You won't succeed in provocation this time. You've earned your ignore button.

Thank God for that.
