Sorry, the show with Myles tomorrow will have to suffice for a while. Should be interesting to read the reports from that.
Ali
I'd prefer a performance from current GN'R line-up with Duff and/or Izzy or NOT over anything with Myles.

Have a club show like they just did. Don't blow your load on the HOF bullshit.
Realistically I think you'd have to castrate Axl before he'd work with Slash and even then....but yeah in some ways I've always thought a hall performance makes no sense - when they could play for $150m on a tour.
Then again....I guess it's been shown it's not about money, and I kinda hoped that where money wasn't the sweetener that the honouring and giving back something to the thousands of fans who beg for it might be...simply for the happiness it would create worldwide....but I guess their minds don't work like that!
I mean realisticly it's going to be 20 mins of awkward for axl and it would make 10,000,000 people in south america happy..he could almost do it for the global harmony at this rate.
No, I mean a REAL send off of the fab 5. Free show. Free stream. No money changing hands. The real deal.
I think Axl laid it out for what Slash has to do to open a line of communication. Right or wrong, good or bad, will Slash do it?

Re: RRHoF Discussion (Izzy/Slash/Axl Press Statements)
Been thinking about it.
On one level you have to give Axl he sticks to his principles and maintains his rock star thing like that article says.
On the other hand, as much integrity he has, we're seeing people get mad because they've felt he's been in the wrong for 20 years.
I don't think it comes down to anyone really giving a shit about the hall itself.
It comes down to fans who love his music having to deal with every single time someone in the business wrongs him, and it all being a conspiracy against him. People stood by that. People who loved the original music had to deal with his lateness and the riots. But they stood by that. They had to deal with questionable off stage acts - spousal abuse and the like. They did that. They had to watch him drive out and then publicly minimise the members who made the band what it was Izzy "his name just escapes me", Slash "who ruined the UYI records" and so on. They watched as his leadership turned GNR from a band that released 3 Albums and 2 EPs in 10 years to a band that released 1 album in 15. Then they watched as the replacement members quit in very similar scenarios and with similar complaints to the original members.
Now here we are. And the public sees the guys who made the band what they loved asking Axl for a chance to play again - just as a one off even - just to honour what was achieved in the hay-day. And they see Axl refusing to even be in the same building, let alone play with the old guys.
Then they look and they see that Axl has assembled a killer modern band, with one of the foremost technical guitarists in the entire world, a bad ass drummer, an old school bassist, a rock solid rhythm player, and a new lead player - a man who has technical ability but also an old-time 80-s vibe - a man who simultaneously revitalised rockers like Motley Crue and yet powers out modern chart sucessful rock like Sixx:Am. Then they watch as that line up records no new material in what? 5 years now?
I think people are just fed up.
Axl pulled appart the biggest and greatest band of our time when he took control of it. Then he reassembled it into a new entity which has had similar problems to the old one under his leadership, and the current line up seems utterly stagnant. Axl has one of the best potential recording partnerships of our times as his disposal in the new band - let alone if he was to let the persoanal side rest and talk to the old band - yet the business side or whatever it is stops him from ever recording with is new line up. Maybe, if he can't get that stuff sorted, maybe just maybe, it shows he is not the person who should be in control.
I think he's one of the best songwriters of all time, but that doesn't mean he should be running a multinational brand like GNR. Frankly he doesn't have the business education, or the stability of emotion to do so. I'd like to see him forget about the law suits and the running of the company and go back to being what he really is - an amazing artist. And that could happen with whoever he works with - as soon as he accepts he shouldn't be in total control of every decision.
So it comes down to this, sure I respect Axl's integrity and strength of character, but I think for a lot of people it comes down to the fact that it's been obvious for decades that he's in the WRONG when it comes to the idea that GNR was ever only about him or that he should be the one to make the business decisions.
Re: RRHoF Discussion (Izzy/Slash/Axl Press Statements)
Can we get like a mod controlled Update thread.. where only thing in it is important updates and we discuss in another??
Trying to follow all these pages is maddening
I got like 20 pages to read tonight of just what has happened since I've been at work and the movies today.
