Ladies and gentlemen... this should be Bono's "About Me" description here at Evo.
Difference between me and Axl is I can call some one a jackass in this section and be friends in another seciton.I can say someone has lost their mind in one thread and the next thread tell them awesome post. Axl can't do that. Disgaree with Axl once and he'll throw ya on his shit list for life because you're out to get him. Also I'm a straight shooter. you know exactly what I'm thinking and I say what I mean. I don't hide behind smoke and mirrors and ridiculously blame others for everything. Other than that yeah my opinions are pretty fucking awesome

On a more serious note. I think this is so disheartening because Duff's post the day before made it sound like there was a vague chance. I mean all along I had no hope in hell of Axl performing, but Duff just sounded so logical and rational that there was like a hint that maybe some common sense would apply. So then it comes down so much harder that it doesn't. lol.

In Axl's defence I do believe all these things about him that people don't like are also the muse and drive for the stuff about him (and that he's done) that we do like. To an extent I think the guys personality is what it is you know, he WAS a creative genius and those people are often really hard to deal with in conventional terms.

This is true. Duff's write up was such a voice of reasona nd then Axl fires off a letter that is in so many ways absolutely asinine. the funny thing is there are fans who vehemently say Axl owes us nothing and maybe he doesn't yet it's very clear Axl feels the fans owe him something. He's incredibly dellusional.

Yeah I kinda agree. Axl's days of being a creative genius are long behind him.

Have Axl die right now in 2012.
History, time, and the whole damn thing would write that story entirely different, and it would live on for generations.
We may love Axl as a performer (that's about it), but the reality is we are all jaded. No one outside these boards sees Axl as "a creative genius" anymore. Sorry.

You know what's really ironic in all of this is Axl is the guy who says a reunion will NEVER happen, he's the guy who always talks about moving forward and having artistic integrity, he's the guy that seems to have nothing but negative things to say about the past. On the flip side the other guys have always been open to a reunion to a varying degrees and they are the ones who are willing to look back on the old days with fondess. Yet who's living off the past? Honestly who carries on under the banner of the past and who makes a career off the past legacy and who are the ones continueally moving forward with new material? Who are the ones who have created careers outside of Gn'R and have actually done something with themselves. Pretty funny when you break it down like that. Axl is the complete opposite of what he claims to be while the other guys are in fact everything Axl says he is.

Yeah my favourite GNR albums, used to love cranking them sitting working my way through a bottle of whisky flicking through the booklet reading along with the lyrics.
Cd has some good lyrics too though, Catcher and Prostitute are pretty interesting.
