all that might be true but axl is 50 now and the definition of rock n roll has changed with the times. to me, regardless of your definition of what rock n roll is, it is nothing without the music. axl can play by his own rules all he wants but increasingly less and less people are gonna respect that behavior as he gets older and less relevant as an artist........not for those reasons by themselves but for why those reasons exist which is the fact that axl is not releasing a substantial amount of music.

I understand now what you're saying a little better.  But, the one point I'll disagree with you on is that "what they were trying to do", their (the HOF, Azoff) actions make it about them.  I don't think you can disconnect the organization or individuals from their actions.  Had they not tried to force relationships Axl doesn't want, there might not have been any conflict whatsoever.

Ali

You can absolutely seperate the action from the person.  We do that all the time.  It's why when your family does something wrong, you're upset about what they did.  You still love the person, just not the action.  When you say something stupid, it doesn't mean you are stupid, it means what you said is stupid.  This happens all the time every single day.  Axl doesn't have an exemption from it.  Now if you build up a bunch of occurances, you can eventually turn that into not loving the family member (I think...never been in that situation) and certainly someone that continues to say stupid things has to be looked at as maybe being stupid at some point.  But it takes an accumulation of things for that to happen, not one thing.

So your last sentence is correct, but the action is the driving force and the person is just the platform.  It doesn't matter which person tries it, the result will be the same.  That makes it the action and not the person/HoF that is the issue.

And to be fair, it really doesn't matter.  We're nitpicking something that really makes no difference to any of this.

No, but stepping away was therapeutic by itself.  It even changed the way I feel about some of the issues over the years.  When you keep saying the same thing over and over, you're almost obligated to keep it going and not change how you see things.  When you step away for a bit, you can look at things a little clearer and formulate new opinions.  Heck, I thought Ali made some good points earlier and I never would have thought that before.  Maybe Axl needs to take this approach...

I never would have posted what I said earlier about Slash accepting responsibility for his part in this 6 months ago.

People, especially KV & Ali, are missing the point. This isn't necessarily about the RRHOF because like others have mentioned had Axl come out a while back and just said "thanks but no thanks" it would've been whatever. People would still be pissed but whatever. It's about Axl not moving forward and still playing the victim poor me role. He releases this bullshit letter, laying blame on the world, playing the victim role, basically saying how hard life has been and he does it with a  few big words sprinkled in here and there to fool the sheep into thinking he's an intelligent person a when the reality is he's not that smart, definitely not as smart as some would like think. He acts like a fucking 12 year spoiled little bitch and that's the truth. He goes on to say how hard he's working to move the current Gn'R foward and we all know that's a fucking lie. His passive agrresive letter towards old memebsr and fans and media is justa  pure insult to everyone.  For him to say the shit he did with a  straight face to the fans shows how little respect he has for the fans. He thinks we're idiots and shoudl buy his bulshit because he's the almihty Axl Rose.  He thinks we should follow him to the end of the earth regardless of what he does. Fuck this dude.  I'd personally would never throw shit at anyone on stage but if Axl was pissed at people throwing stuff at him before he'd better watch out now.

What this boils down to is Axl Rose has just shown how little he appreciates the fans and how  arrogant and self absorbed he is.  And to be honest I think he's so full of shit when it comes to him respecting his current band. If he did he'd let them show their stuff. Instead he lets them show old Gn'R's stuff..... yeah Axl's moved on alright. roll

I've seen his letter posted by 6 different people on facebook today and all of them have been commenetd on by dozens of people. These are average joe blows who normally I wouldn't think cared. The overwhelming consensus is that Axl Rose is a piece of shit as a human being now. Sure the general public has always thought he's nuts and a dick but this is on a  whole new level in my opinion. I haven't posted it at all on facebook so the fact random friends are discussing it and throwing Axl Rose into the fire is pretty unreal. I think he's fucked his new Gn'R to  be honest.  More now than ever the general public will not accept his version of Gn'R

I agree that it doesn't matter which person tries it, but the fact is if you were on the receiving end of being forced to be with people or do something you didn't want to do, it would be much more difficult to sit there and separate the person from their actions.

In Axl's mind, given the emotional intensity of these issues, it may not be quite so simple to separate the individual/organization from their actions.  Honestly, if you were in his shoes, right or wrong, I'd be willing to bet it would be difficult for you as well, if not outright impossible.
