Still not one post in this thread explains why the Hall Of Fame is so important. None of the classic line up seemed to care that much when interviewed pre nomination except Adler.

Going about Slash's interpetation that the Revolver Golden Gods is the great Amercian event. Anyone that thinks that the Hall Of Fame is anything more than PR event... well.

Even if Axl wasn't a nutter, what motivation is there to sit there for a few hours with 2 people he very much dislikes and in all honestly probably dislike him just as to give them an extra headline in the Entertainment news next week.

His letter was a bad choice as usual, but I'm more embarrassed by the fans in this thread. Most of us are disgruntled, but some of you people are alot more delusional than he is, if you believe the shit you come off with.

I agree with a lot written here.

I can understand the frustration, but everyone has to remember it was a professional and personal decision based on past histories to which we are only partially aware.

I think that what Slash is alleged to have done is probably quite minor in the overall scheme of things. Particularly against the backdrop of what the others including Axl have done in the past.

Yet Axl has held this grudge for so long and built up whatever Slash as done into something so significant, that he probably can't come out and say exactly what the reasons are now because everyone would laugh and say "is that it, is that why you've held a 20 year grudge for? How pathetic.

Suing for theft and fraud and, then, a court order to restore the original partnership minus Axl is relatively minor.

LOL.

Not to mention the revisionist history on how the band broke up (all blame on Axl's ego, no blame on Slash).

Please, now.

Let's flip your point of view on its head...

Yeah sure continually being late, not showing up even for some concerts, not showing up to write new songs with your band as they just sit around, causing riots, forcing the others to accept your mate Dizzy into the band and later Paul Huge. Spending money hand over fist on studios and workers who sit idle for months.  Taking the name and then leaving with it only offering the guys to join your new partnership as a paid employee. I'm pretty sure Axl has started legal action against the others too. Only talking thru the yes men he surrounded himself with etc etc I could go on forever.

As for the revisionist history, I have no doubt Slash has spun things and told lies on how some shit went down.  But you put all blame on Slash none on Axl.

So again I say against the backdrop of what Axl has done as well as the other members, I hazard a guess that what Slash has done is not much less, probably just on a par with the other guys.

I disagree.

Axl has moved on.

Duff and Slash have moved on. They don't need a reunion at this point. Loaded is doing great, Slash has his shiny new toy in Myles.

Adler is one guy who needs this beyond all measure. At the end of the day, his big mouth made the decision easy.

I don't believe he is implying they need a reunion. He is implying that Axl needs to let go of hs obsessive hatred for Slash. It looks to me like Slash and Duff are willing to let the past go, Axl however can't. He apparently can't even be in the same room as Slash even if they don't perform together. Yeah sure Axl has moved on 18

I am directly referring to this line:

The biggest problem is when you hold that much anger for someone, it's stops you from living life and doing the things you like to do and should be doing.

We all have people in our past who we parted ways with on contentious terms. Sometimes in order to move on, you simply have to put that person behind you completely.

This happens in failed relationships all the time. How many actually are able to stay friends? Especially if someone blames you, sues you, tells everyone that you suck and failed them.....

Axl has a creative process, for good or for bad, which renders this inherent unpredictability entirely predictable. If they couldn't deal with the lateness, his style of writing music, then the door was open for them to leave.

Unfortunately, Axl had the foresight to grab the name of the band before the others could run the name into the ground completely. You blame Axl for the dissolution of the original partnership? No one held a gun to Duff and Slash's head when they were bought out of their rights to the name. They weren't held hostage when Axl asked them to sign that final letter giving him the right to dissolve the original partnership if they all left. A lot of the blame falls on S & D. They have admitted fault and were unable to prove this in court.

It is easy to nullify nasty, vindictive comments by concluding that both sides do it. But remember, Axl was silent on many of these most important issues for more than a decade while Slash spun lies in the press about the break up, the loss of the name, and, of course, his mystery visit to Axl's in the middle of the night.

Axl has hit back against Slash a number of times. This is true. But I never felt that these comments were without justification. Decades worth of soundbytes by the Blues Baller dug his own grave.

KV, give it up bro...  This was bigger than Axl, he is a little bitch for making this about him and not the fans.

No, bro.

It really isn't.

The induction is just being blown out of proportion.

Even Duff doesn't think the award was a big deal.

I hear what you are saying, but Axl has done just as much from what I can see and still does. He called him a cancer not too long ago. MSL even said in his phone calls with Beta a couple of years ago that she spent most of her time ranting about Slash. On the rare occasions Axl speaks he usually cant help but include snide comments about Slash amongst his bile.  He just can't seem to let go of the animosity. As Canter says, it can't be good for him mentally.

Slash is no saint and he may have a public persona that says he has put things behind him yet behind the scenes is still being a cock. If he is then he plays the game better than Axl. But I honestly think Slash has largely moved on, particuarly with his hatred and animosity Sadly I can't say the same for Axl.

The fact that Axl thinks that reuniting with the original lineup to accept an award for one night, will hinder the new band, is laughable. The new band needs to do more than release one album in nearly 20 years, and stop touring off old songs. Hell, even CD is getting old. Get these new guys into a studio and kick our asses with some new music or shut the fuck up with your excuses.

What a fuckin pathetic old man Axl Rose is. To NOT accept this award is an insult to the fans that made him and the rest of the guys millionaires. And it's that same success that even allows him to tour in any version of Guns N' Roses that exists today.

I never thought I'd say this, but a big FUCK YOU Axl Rose.

Fucking pathetic.

I think your last point may very well be very true.

There is probably a lot of stuff happening behind the scenes to which we are not privy. Back channel communications. Perhaps additional law suits which we did not know. Allegations made in court which were not publicly digestible.

I will give Slash this, he has mellowed in the past few years. But in Axl's mind, it was not sufficient to make emends for past sins.

What was your opinion of the two lawsuits Slash and Duff fired at Axl a few years back. The first alleged that Axl's current partnership and $20mil publication deal should be nullified, effectively taking the name from him. The second was an allegation of theft and fraud when ASCAP deposited funds into Axl's Black Frog publication arm by mistake.
