This is why i don't like the Axl vs Slash war as I like them both.
Really couldn't say which I like more. They're just different styles. Feel wise contraband reminds me also of AFD, and Chinese Reminds me a lot of UYI.
One interesting thing about contraband is it has that aura that you get seeing VR live. Which is very similar to what it was like seeing GNR. Slash has a huge presence anyway but add him to Duff and Matt and there's a distinct "powerhouse" rock royalty feel to things before they even play. Just like an energy when they get up there. Same with Axl of course too.
They had that X factor style chrisma that can make you truely excited for a band.

Dammit - had to log in twice in one day after 4 months of silence!
I don't like Snakepit (either one), and you'd be hard pressed to find a bigger Slash fan than I am. Love VR, thought the solo album was okay...not great, but much better than snakepit.
Who thought I'd be logging in just to defend ID?

I guess maybe its just where I am in life.
CD is great but too fucking depressing.. Can only listen in bad moods and none of the rockers are really that good. Better a rocker? still like a love song rocker.
Where with CB.. man u put that on and u will do some fucking work in the gym or drive a lot faster in your car.
It also has just enough ballads to slow it down enough and all three ballads are fantastic in my opinion.

Somebody said it here not long after Chinese came out, and it made perfect sense to me:
I like Chinese Democracy more than any single album Slash has put out Post-GNR, but if I'm allowed to pick and choose an album worth of Slash's work and piece it together, I would probably like that better than Chinese.
For my own personal taste, I'd add that if I did the same thing with Izzy's stuff as was suggested with Slash's it would crush both of them.
As far as singers vs guitar in general... I find it hard if not impossible to get past vocals I don't like to get to the rest of the song that might be good. If there's a guitar part I don't care for (Fink's solo on This I Love, for example) I find it much easier to just gut through that portion to enjoy the rest of the song.

They're shooting the (real) video this weekend, so I hope it'll push the single even more. It's a catchy track.
