Maybe I have blinders on but I tend to agree with that very last sentence.
Am I dumb for assuming Slash has other ways to promote himself these days than to just attempt to make Axl look bad?

Would be amazing if they did - but even conversations together on the night might be progress for the future.
Remember VR started when Slash, Duff and Matt played some charity show and realised they still had a vibe together.
If Old gnr hung out and there wasn't the bullshit there usually is...maybe one day in the future....
That's all I care about...that some sort of dialogue gets started again with them all being together.

Bono, I have not disrespected you. But I have gone after you behavior, which is ridiculous with how abrasive you can be. You fly off the deep end and overeact to anyone who disagrees with you. Not just me.
For the record, I doubt Beta, Fernando or Del have much power in telling Axl what to do. It seems more like they have more sway in what they don't tell him.

Lebeis' two adult children, Fernando and Vanessa, round out the management group. Lebeis says that this arrangement is the result of an ultimatum she gave Rose after Guns N' Roses' most recent manager, Katsis, left the fold after less than a month on the job.
"We decided, 'No more managers,'" said Lebeis a few days after the Seattle concert. "Between me and Fernando and my daughter, we're dealing with the management." Yeah, but still, they know who daddy is and what they can get away with. This was more of a guilt trip than a power play, honestly. At least that's how I take it. And I can bet Axl will end up with another Manager and Beta ain't going anywhere.
Do I think she instigates shit with people she doesn't like and tries to churn the pot with Axl to get him/keep him pissed off at people? Hell yeah, I'm sure she does. But she can't keep Axl from doing what he wants to do, even though she can probably pressure him/guilt him into shit for a while.

That Slash interview on radio really finishes the argument against the Axlamic Fundamentalists...
And please don't try to say that Axl isn't doing it 'cause Izzy never said he was or that this is some new mind bendingly evil media manipulation trick that Slash is trying use to make Axl look bad and promote his album...
It is what it is.. Uncle Axl is doing what he did to Vancouver, Philly, St. Louis and a shit load of other places...he ain't giving the fans what they want.

It could be Axl not wanting to give anyone the wrong impression that a reunion is going to happen. Maybe this is Axl's way of giving in and actually being in the same room with someone he said he never would before. Maybe Beta is the roadblock. Maybe Axl's deliberately trying to stiff the fans by not performing. Maybe he's going to eat some kittens later. But... Perhaps, not one single person has actually put in the effort to try to make it happen yet...... Shocking thought... Perhaps it's not as easy as everyone getting on stage because.... All of them have people.... And some of them may have conditions... It's hard to say, really... All Slash said was that he'd like to and it wasn't necessarily Axl who is saying no....

So, Izzy's position for this specific evening is very relevant.
Izzy's stated position is that he'd love to play with the original 5 guys.
He didn't put a condition on it like "as long as it isn't at the RRHOF" so there is more reason to think he would play than wouldn't.
The RRHOF gig gives him a chance to do what he directly said he wanted, reunite for a show with the originals.
