I forgot who the hell it was but he was gonna give that song to a different singer but Sinead covered it before it happened, which of course sent her into the stratosphere until she threw it all away by tearing up that pic of the Pope two years later.

Would love to see the alternate universe where she didn't pull that stunt. She was amazing, only 26 when that happened, and may not have even peaked yet. It just ruined every facet of her career.

Tearing the Emperors picture was the greatest thing she ever did, and the fact that her career totally tanked afterwards shows that she was right, that institution is the true enemy.

She did some decent tunes, but that stunt was total balls. One of a kind.

I guess it's safe to say when Mick Jager sang "Time is on our side" he wasn't refering to her.  We all age and still I'm a wee bit shocked at how poorly she has. Nothing about her in THAT picture physically resembles the incredibly beautiful woman she was.

The best version of Nothing Compares 2 U in my opinion

Wow, that's her?!!

Love that song still.

Not sure if you've ever heard it, but here's the person who wrote it doing it even better:

I know you posted this a while ago, but I gotta disagree with it.  Sineads version is much better than Princes.  FWIW, I think Prince didn't even record the song (or release it myb) until after it was a hit.

Anyway, I view the whole thing kinda like Fight Club, the movie was better than the book.  No matter how many people try to argue differently, its the reality.  If you never read the book, it's pretty hmmmm, cheesily written maybe.  He had another book turned into a movie, Choke. I tried watching that, it was horrible.

Been done a thousand times before.  Rock band covers pop song to make it sound like it has new integrity & insight. YAWN!

Face it, Sineads version is perfect.

Disagree. Sinead's version is fantastic and  I still like Stereophonics version better and I'm not about to "face it" that Sinead's is better.  I never said anything about the cover having more integrity or insight than Sinead's(which is a cover as well keep in mind)  I just like it better. I like Kelly Jone's voice better and I like the guitar better. In my opinion it's a better version and hate to break it to ya I haven't heard a version like Sterophonics so NO it hasn't been done a thousand times before with this song. You don't judge a cover on what other bands have done with other songs. It's irrlevant.

Not a bad cover, but it is essentially the same. If you're going to cover a great song you should make it different like KOHD, or else what's the point.

Sineads isn't a cover. Prince wrote it, but didn't release it previously I don't think  That'd be like saying Christina Aguilera's "You're Beautiful" is a cover, cause the girl from 4 non blondes wrote it.
