STFU with that shit. You cry and bitch about people calling you a hater when you trash CD, so get over it. You're the one calling it a hit after hearing only 20 seconds.

And you bring up and bash CD again in a conversation that has nothing to do with it. Please.

Re: 20 Seconds of the new Slash Song "You're A Lie" from Apocalyptic Lov

from that sample I can't really say the song is good or bad, I'd have to hear the whole song first. I liked the first album, but to be honest while I like the song Starlite from the first album I am not a Myles fan at all, but he may surprise us, I know one thing tho, I don't like hearing Myles singing the GN'R songs.

Love Slash, song is bad. Riff isn't catchy at all, vocals are sub-par even for the genre. Fuck, I'm disappointed.

For the record, I did like most of Slash I; just not the few songs that followed this mold. If this is the template or poster child for how the rest of album will sound, I'm not buying. And to a certain extent, I hope the album is more cohesive than the previous; but then please let this song be the odd one out.

To be honest I'm not sure how any of us can come to a conclusion, good or bad, on the basis of 20 seconds.

OK...for those who hate myles' voice tone...I guess you can come to a conclusion as he does sound like himself...but everyone else..there's no way to know what else this song does - I personally think slash soloing over that chorus riff would have a lot of potential to be a slither/watch this type track.

I'll admit sometimes myles can be forgettable - lots of alterbridge is like that (the second half of the song blackbird excepted - great singing and killer solo) but I think there's lots of potential to go nuts with slash here. What if it breaks out into some serial killer type riffs or something later? Maybe it doesn't too. I just think in terms of the modernness it's no more modern sounding in production than something like Beautiful Dangerous was.

I'm predicting somewhere on this record there will be a gem of a song. Maybe this one isn't it. Although it sounds like it could be cool to me anyway. But I think somewhere on this record there will be a "holy shit" moment. Slash is just playing so well recently, from the last album to the tour, and myles has such vocal chops. Reality is even when Slash "goes modern" he's still Slash..somewhere there's going to be some bad ass riffing and soloing.

It's just normally I read posts like "why doesn't slash ever challenge himself, all he does is make the same Aerosmith rock over and over", so he releases 20 seconds of a song and now it's all "fuck...it doesn't sound like aerosmith..what a sell out fuckwitt"

Not specifically talking about this thread, more the reaction on facebook and other places.

Sounds like a "modern rock" radio song. Undecided until I hear it in full, but I'm not hearing anything amazing yet.

Jesus, I can't stand Myles.

It's a 20 second Creed/Nickleback sound. neutral

I'd like to hear some instrumentals. I just don't know how I can deal with Myles. Even that 20 second preview was terrible, so it's hard to say I need to hear more. I want to hear more Slash, less Myles.

But I agree with Mad, the slick production is very surprising.

Wow, i'm not hearing that AT ALL.

To me it sounds more like Baz, and Whitesnake, and some of the other 80's acts are doing in the current. A modern day melodic rock sound with a bit more sleaze & hard rock attitude.

I actually liked the 20 second clip alot. Very accessible, very VINTAGE.

I didn't hear the Creed/Nickleback thing at all. But I will say this, for all of those old rock fans, I gotta be honest, if you don't like the post-grunge sound (of which this doesn't sound like imo), you might want to retire your rock fan card for all of these "known" rock acts.

The post-grunge sound ain't going anywhere, it's been proven to sell records and downloads over and over, and it's the "safe" option for record companies today. The continuing hatred of it, not that it's not warranted for some, is basically a waste of time at this point. It ain't going anywhere. And in Creed's defense (yes, I know hell just froze over), Creed was kinda the first to popularize the grunge meets 80's cock rock sound (even if it was created in a producer's office), so I don't know if they deserve the same standard that the rest of the copycats deserve.

For example, Slash has Myles. Axl has DJ. Crue's Nikki Sixx basically reinvented in that direction. Metallica basically invented the metal-version of the sound. Shinedown is probably the biggest, newer rock act out there, and so on.

It might be time for certain rock fans to just kinda deal with it. If you don't like it, there are tons and tons of amazing underground artists out there you can listen to. But bands like GN'R, Metallica, Crue, and the post-grunge artists, on their 'caliber' of brand name, they're almost forced to record that way to promote, regardless.

To me arguing about the sound of modern rock/post-grunge, reminds me of during the 80's, old rock fans bitching because Alice Cooper & KISS & Ozzy Osbourne were recording melodic rock/hair metal songs.

I'm just of the opinion that a GOOD SONG, is a GOOD SONG. Doesn't matter what "sound" it is. And just like glam metal was the sound of the 80's, post grunge is the sound of rock of this generation. Time to get on board, or fuck off quietly.

I'll say this, some people sure do have some strong opinions after hearing 20 seconds of a song.

I liked the Myles tracks on the last record, so I have some hope for this record.  I need to hear more though to make a sincere judgement.  Can't tell much from that clip.

And as for Slash needing to do certain things to sell himself as a solo artist, as in play it safe, go the commercial route, or perform anywhere and everywhere he can.  Give me a break!  He's FREAKING 21  He's made his mark on the music industry.  He's a legendary guitarist.  He doesn't NEED to sell himself repeatedly.

If good 'ole JR is telling you "not bad, I like it"... people might want to take a serious re-analyzation of the song.

But tbh, alot of these GN'R boards are a strange place. You walk into the GN'R section in most boards, and you get a sense of revived Axlites. You walk into these "previous members" sections, and you get a sense of Slashites have run wild.

Problem is, none of them realize they are what they are. They all think they're "calling it like it is, just the facts". Reminds me of Democrats vs. Republicans.

Ultimately it's all the same thing. The same blind passion for an artist taking a shit on mic.

Here at Evo, we don't have Axlites running wild on the main boards. We just don't. But we do seem to have some Slashites on these post member boards that think anything critical of Slash is a Axl fan in hiding.

Nope, we just think Izzy kicks both their asses most of the time. j/k 19
