We were arguing about apples and oranges; ISE was technically the first single, but it was not the song the majority of people were exposed to GN'R for the first time, whether in the US or around the world.  It just wasn't.

Jungle was put on late at night on MTV and ON IT'S OWN became highly requested before SCOM. After SCOM it did get more airplay on the radio, but Jungle was the first thing most people saw and heard. SCOM was by far more popular, not arguing that. But it was a big deal that the band who did Jungle did this cool love song.

Jungle is what defined their image.

Well, I think Jungle opened the door for them in the sense that even if most of mainstream America still had no clue who they were, DJ's around the country damn sure were aware of them based on their MTV success. So when a song like SCOM gets released as a single, the DJ's aren't hesitant at all to give it a spin. Then it's up to the listening public, and obviously they loved it.

Most people think of Slash on the same level with Jimmy Page & Joe Perry.

Just sayin'

Neither Joe nor Slash are considered to be in Page's league. Very few are.

I was not referring to ability. I was referring to "circle".

For example,

People see Slash as the last of the old rock guitarists with Page, Perry, May, Richards, Van Halen, etc.

People see Richie Sambora and CC DeVille are not really seen as apart of that classification.

That's all I was really saying.

OK, I'll go along with that. 21

U do realize how criminal it is to lump Richie with CC Deville though right?Richie is a fan fucking tastic guitar player. Shame Jon has neutered him past several albums but Richie is a fantastic blues guitarist and can do a ton of great things and has wrote a shit load of amazing riffs.

He has one of the most fantastic solo albums u will hear. I think it blows Slash's out of the water to be honest:

Excellent song, and excellent album. Reminds me of Stevie Ray Vaughn.

And yes, Richie Sambora can shred like a motherfucker, it's just not shown on modern Bon Jovi songs.

yeah anyone who would mention Richie in the same sentence as CC are just throwing two names together out their ass and haven't really studied their guitar work.
