Re: Paris Hilton film earns $9,000 opening weekend

Paris Hilton may be known for saying, "That's hot" - but early returns for her new film certainly are not.

The Hottie and the Nottie, a romantic comedy starring Hilton, Joel David Moore, and Christine Lakin, opened Friday to $9,000 on 111 screens, or $81 per screen, according to Box Office Mojo.

By comparison, Fool's Gold, the newest romantic comedy from Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson, also opened Friday to $7.65 million on 3,125 screens, or $2,148 per screen.

Hilton's Hottie disappointed, despite a whirlwind three weeks of film promotion for Hilton. She premiered the film in Hollywood and Dallas, appeared in Philadelphia, at Harvard University, and the Sundance Film Festival, and on talk shows Late Show with David Letterman and MTV's TRL.

Hilton recently spoke about her acting coach Ivana Chubbuck and what she's learned from working with her.

"Actors are really great if they've lived the life of a lot of things happen to them," she said of the acting method she uses. "I've had a lot happen to me in my life. Now I've learned to use those experiences in my acting."

She costars next in this year's musical Repo! The Genetic Opera, opposite Paul Sorvino and Alexa Vega.

Sorry for sounding like an ignorant but who are those people? At times a movie can attract people because of its cast but here you have:

Hilton - the party goer who is famous for... erm ? roll
+ Two people I never heard about.
+ Romantic comedy with a seemingly heavily stereotyped situation...

= total waste of money.

A romantic comedy with Matthew McConaughey, the sport addict who's been spotted alone most of the tilme until recently, now that's interesting!:D Besides, Kate's looks make her more relevant for this type of part.

Agreed!   I don't understand how film makers could actually think that she would be a draw.  Most people hate her.   I do 22

Paris Hilton's new film 'The Hottie and The Nottie' has been named the worst movie ever.

Users of the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) have voted the 2008 comedy - in which the 26-year-old plays a stunner with a not-so-attractive best friend - the worst of all time, giving it on average a score of 1.2 on a scale of 1-10.

House of Wax isn't too bad. Basically a watchable teen thriller. Its probably the only decent movie she'll ever be in.
