what some of you guys dont seem to be getting is that the same old ax/gnr has already hit rock bottom. they are catering to mostly the diehards at this point. they'll keep going to shows as long gnr is in decent form.

Because the promoter is making that decision based on the assumption that the Guns N' Roses brand name will sell it. What's so complicated about that?

Agreed. Diehards enjoy taking it on the chin, regardless. GN'R made like an $11million and change profit on the NA tour and they make more internationally.

But Ireland might have an ax to grind, versus the rest of the world.

People are starting to go out again in Dublin after staying home for a long time because we've all decided to start living as it looks like this shitty recession will be here for a long time to come..

BUT
People here now demand value for the little bit of money they have left to blow and will only shell out for events that they think will give them bang for their buck.

You roll a shitty last gig in with a Thursday night show, expensive tickets and a front man who could walk off again or keep you there until you're about to nod out with tiredness....all to hear the same tunes he played in '06 and '11....its not quite the proposition the promoters assume it is.

I am assuming it will still sell well but logic would say that it won't. I'll be happy to be wrong.

Yeah its been tough times in Ireland financially, and these tickets are pretty expensive, it'll be interesting to see how well it sells after the shitstorm last time.

I thought they would never be asked to play another festival in Europe, or at least the UK, after all that nonsense, but they are playing Euro festivals and there is rumours of Sonisphere UK... talking of which, the line up is supposed to be announced today.

* just checked, 8 o'clock tonight is the announcement.

I don't know if it will sell or not. Just for the record. I just know promoters are in it to make money. If they don't think they can make money, they won't book the show......especially in hard economic times.

saw a promo pic the other day in the paper just had those weird like melted anguished skull's w/UYI2 colours it simply said "GnR 02 May yada yada" & then "2012 tour". not exactly inspiring promo so far. but it's only feb. was slightly relieved it didn't read "chinese democracy world tour" but i suspect it probably will closer to the gig.

People in Ireland are sick of being let down so Axl better get on stage at reasonable o'clock and sing until his balls glow in the dark or else its going to all end in tears.
