Off top of head.. no particular order top 10 GNR songs of all time:

1.Jungle
2.SCOM
3.PC
4.NR
5.Estranged
6.Coma
7.Nightrain
8.Rocket Queen
9.You Could Be Mine
10.Don't Cry

next 5: Civil War,Easy,Brownstone,Patience,Locomotive,

no way anything on CD even approaches that list. That's just 10, Now could some CD songs come in 11-15.. possibly but top ten no way.

I still have a hard time comparing the CD songs to the rest of the GNR catalog.  Not saying, I don't like them as much or I don't think they can compete, its just the relative "newness" of the CD songs hasn't allowed for them to settle in as all time classics.  Granted, they're not all that "new" any longer, but you know what I mean.  To be honest though, I have a hard time ranking the CD songs against themselves.  I'd say TWAT is at the top of my list, but after that there's not a big difference between the rest of the pack.

All I know is Rocket Queen is my favorite song overall, and Breakdown comes in at number 2.

kinda my point Faldor... songs we have worn out for over 20 years still aren't old or burned out.

I can listen to AFD and get same adrenaline rush 25 years later.

CD... loved it for a while... as time goes by.. I love 4 songs maybe.. rest never have any desire to hear again unless at a concert and have to.

The list is your list. I'd put TWAT, Better and Prostitute in the top ten if I'd rank them. I think CD is a great album, don't need anyone to share that opinion. You have your own taste, I have mine. Doesn't mean anyone is more right than the other. The old vs new thing is getting real old.

That's a hell of a top 15 isn't it? If anyone questions why GN'R are getting into the Hall of Fame, all you gotta do is post that list. 16

I personally would put Yesterdays in your next list too. Another great song from the band that needs to be played by the current lineup lol Everything else on that list is perfection!!

Well, that wasn't MY point at all actually.

To me, I'd much rather listen to CD than UYI I or II right now, today, tomorrow, next week, etc.  But that doesn't necessarily mean I think it's a better album.  It's just more fresh.  I LOVED the UYI's growing up.  They're what got me hooked on this band to begin with.  So they obviously mean a lot to me.  That's why it's hard to compare them with CD, not because those songs stand the test of time and I no longer like CD.  That's not at all what I was getting at.

I never bought the whole music is subjective thing..

If u asked 100 people top ten GNR songs of all time.. their list would look similar to that.

If u put those 3... what 3 are u taking out?

people used to try to pull that with me about Finck and Slash. I would tell people u can't say Finck is better than Slash and they'd pull all this my opinion bullshit.

something can be your "Favorite" but that doesn't make it better.

Emancipation is my all time fave Prince album... I'd be crazy to say its better than Purple rain or Sign o the times or 1999.. its my fave but i can be objective enough to know that on NO planet would Emancipation be considered his best album:

Dirk Nowitzki is my Favorite NBA basketball player of all time. I like him MORE than Michael Jordan but I'd never say he is "Better" than MJ. Why? cause there are tangible arguments u can point at and prove why MJ is better and I can do the same as to why Slash is better than Finck.

Same with my top 10 list of GNR songs.

U can have your ten favorites.. but if u are being objective u couldn't possibly penetrate that list with CD stuff.

The ten I listed aren't my 10 fave GNR songs but when u take everything into account, personal feelings aside, those would be in 99 percent of peoples' definitive list.

I'll get canned for this as I know it's a fan favourite...but Don't Cry wouldn't be anywhere near my best of lists.

It's a pretty song, and a nice heart felt solo from Slash but to me it's not up there with the best work of the old band. It's a nice song but other songs like Coma, Locomotive and that kind of thing are songs that no-one other than GNR could have made. To me Don't Cry is a nice song but it's the type of song I could imagine another band writing too. It's great but a long way from their best work.

I don't want to get into comparing CD to UIY/AFD stuff...but I will say I think there's moments of genius on Chinese Democracy as an album, parts of TWAT, Madagascar, Cather, TIL and others are really songwriting from that place that's so uniquely Axl.

I love the album as is...but I have no doubts that people who don't, much like people who don't understand why Snakepit kicks ass, would have been persuaded if these songs featured the old members.
