You would think Sorum is John Bonham reincarnated and Steven was the second coming of Keith Moon by reading Gnr fan boards....neither one of them are considered great drummers in the music industry.

So?

Rolling Stone didn't even have Slash on its top 100 guitarist.

Don't care what music industry says

If u listen to AFD. u will hear drumming that u DO NOT hear on any other GNR album.

Steven's drumming is as sing alongable and hooky as the guitars, vocals at times.

That is a major fucking accomplishment as 99 percent of drums aren't like that. AFD is one of the greatest air drum albums ever.

Matt's drumming is ok on UYI but it turned GNR into any other Rock N Roll band. AFD has a groove, swing, feel, danceability that no other album has from this band and few other bands have.

People DONT want to give Adler credit cause he is such a fuck up End of Story.

Same people who shit on Steven act like Frank is the greatest drummer of all time which makes me piss myself laughing at how ridiculously dumb that statement is.

Sorum is a one trick pony kinda drummer... Slams the drums.. doesn't have much Dynamic and has little groove. my point with Matt is.. Songs were already written before he got there.. I think any of 2000 drummers could've recorded those songs and it woulda sounded no different. UNLESS he wrote YCBM intro.. if he did.. thats HOF worthy alone. dont know who wrote that though definitively.

Greatest drummer going today IMO is Chad Smith of Chili Peppers and Steven has that type of funk/groove/rhythm.

I don't think either one of them are good. Sorry. Difference of opinion.

and it has NOTHING to do with the new band.

IMO

That's basically what what your posts come down to. 16

I'm not a Matt fan, just some silliness that you have to cut someone down to build up "your" guy is pretty dumb. I like what Matt did on UYI. He's not my favorite drummer, I'm not a big fan of his style. At all. But he is a very talented drummer, he had a career outside GN'R. He wasn't a one trick pony. I like Steven's drumming on AFD. It fit the album perfectly. Just don't see anything special about him as a player. Nothing personal.

And for the record, D, CD does have some great drumming. Nothing mechanical about it. The drumming on TWAT is brilliant.

TWAT has drumming on it??

Define good Madagas?

If double bassing 160 BPM while hi hat to snare then yeah i agree

but its the same "Guitar" argument. Give me a drummer with groove, feel over some dude who can do double bass quadruplets while doing 9 stroke rolls on snare

Same as guitar.. give me Slash who writes amazing memorable melodic solos over a ddue who can play 50 notes per second.

I know you hate the album, but you might want to go listen to the instrumentals. Awesome drumming there.

Gnr is a classic band so I compare them to guys like Keith Moon, John Bonham, Charlie Watts...Mitch Mitchell. Hell the dude from Soundgaren Matt Cameron smokes Adler and Sorum. Dave Grohl, Neil Peart....the Gnr drummers don't come close to stacking up. However, Slash-Ax-Izzy-Duff can be compared to the players and singers in the "classic" bands.

and since you brought it up...Rolling stone did another top 100 guitarists recently and Slash is there at 65

65 is still embarrassingly low for Slash

I honestly think the production on CD makes the drums/bass sound so non existent

listened to MOggs and bass was fantastic.
