yeah Axlin12 I do hear ya that he's a dieing breed in the sense he's from our generation. Having said that I think he's way more "in" with the younger generation than either Axl or Bono and probably Eddie to be honest. I jsut think he's a guy in a good spot to be a spokeman for thsi kind of shit and I love that he spoke up even if justa  little bit. I don't think it will hurt them at all. Foo Fighters are incredibly popular so I don't think they have to worry just yet.

But I gotta agree with tejastech08 in that this years Grammy's seemd to be a  turning point even if a slight one. You had legit talented no bullshit artists win in the new artists, rock and best artist/album categories. That's a positive. They had Coldplay perform live as well so...... I don't know, I know it's a slippery slope for real music but I do think people are getting tired of the image over substance bullshit. Maybe it's just me but I totally get the vibe that people are just really sick of Lady Gaga and stuff like it. Nikki Minaj is a fad, Rihanna isn't even what she once was. Too many singles too easily forgotten, people are losing interest.

real music will make a comeback but it'll be very slow and gradual.

Saddest thing about GaGa is she allows herself to be lumped in with no talent hacks like Minaj, Britney Spears, et al. She has a damn good voice and has proven she can play real music before, but she chooses to bury her talent in a bunch of over the top attention whore antics. But her goal was to make a lot of money and to become really famous, so I guess she succeeded. Not sure how happy she is with fulfilling her creative potential though. Maybe now that she's a $100 million-aire, she'll say "fuck this" and start focusing on creating real music.

^Agreed. The youtube clips of her at NYU are pretty impressive.  She should do a stripped down album, similar to Adele.  Probably will, actually probably won't.

I agree that Nikki Minaj is a walking joke.

I didn't know who she was and caught one of her videos on TV the other day (didn't know TV still showed them), and was stunned at how AWFUL she was, and basically talentless, other than shaking her ass and constantly dropping cuss words.

I have always felt that was a shame. I enjoy some of GaGa's GOOD pop tracks (she had better iTunes bonus tracks on her last record than her major singles).

But I agree that she absolutely WASTES her talent (and this is gonna sound bad), trying to be a Gay Dance Icon.

She has GOT to get out of that bracket. She has far more talent than that. She could be there with the Adele's, and Freddie's, but she wastes her time trying to be "be a star".

Maybe it's just personal opinion, but i'd much rather be remembered like Adele, not a 'copycat Madonna'.

Yeah, I was hoping "Speechless" from the Fame Monster would be a sign of where GaGa's second full album was headed. Then "Born This Way" came out and sounded like absolute garbage. Fuck, I enjoyed "Alejandro" as a tribute to ABBA/Ace of Base, but "Born This Way" is just garbage. Madonna wasn't that good in the first place, so ripping her off just makes it even worse.

Tracks like "Bad Romance," "Just Dance," and "Paparazzi" were far superior. Once she got through that phase of her career, she should have made a permanent shift to more substantial fare like "Speechless." But she pissed it down the drain with the next album.

Yeah, Speechless was a total Freddie-solo song. Believe it or not, Fashion of His Love (a SE bonus track) was my favorite track on the album. Sounded like 80s Whitney.

I love it. Awesome response by him and he's 100% RIGHT.  he hit the nail on the head with performancees needing to be REAL and music being real and not fixing everything so it's perfect. he doesnt' say it outright but it's there. He thinks your talent shoud to the talking and not the producer or some computer who's sole purpose is to cover up your limitations and imperfections. .
