Yeah it's why i have a mild worry about the second album.

On one hand I believe Slash is THE rock guitarist of a generation...and I have total faith that he and Myles could deliver material that's up there with his best work.

On the other hand I think you are right that in general I think Slash lives to play live and tour, and that recording albums is simply a device to facilitate that - and so there can be a tendency to rush - add in that some of these cool riffs from the solo album are ex-VR riffs that he's had lying around - and that these new riffs will likely be new - and the recent revelation that he's recorded all the solos as live "one takes" and it does make me worry it could be a lost opportunity for greatness.

Then again - compared to his live feel I've always thought studio slash was weaker - he plays pretty much all the VR records superior live to the studio takes and it's also not uncommon with GNR tracks (Double Talking Jive etc) to be better live....so maybe jamming it out live on this album will be a secret weapon....

I just hope it's not a rush job as his current band has great chemestry and great potential for a real killer album.

You can pre-order the album via the Classic Rock Slash Fan Pack II and get it a month ahead of the official release.

This better not be an abortion like the last fan pack that took forever to arrive.

Classic Rock Presents Slash Fan Pack cover is for illustrative purposes only - artwork is yet to be confirmed.
On sale a full four weeks before the regular UK album release, Classic Rock's Slash Fan Pack includes the top-hatted guitar hero's brilliant new album in full – his second as a solo artist – plus a 132-page magazine dedicated to every aspect of how this unique album was written and recorded.

Fans who buy the Slash Fan Pack will not only be able to hear the album weeks ahead of its release into record stores, they will get the exclusive low down on all the tracks, all the band members, including Myles Kennedy, the Alter Bridge vocalist who has co-authored all the tracks with Slash, as well as the background on Slash's plans for the future.

The Fan Pack magazine is 100% Slash-approved and contains major exclusive new interviews with Slash, Myles and every member of the band, plus producer Eric Valentine and album sleeve designer, Frank Maddox.

This album is Slash's second as a solo artist - his first, simply titled Slash – was released in 2010 - and the second time the legendary former Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver guitarist has released an album with Classic Rock in Fan Pack form.

The magazine is also packed with a wealth of rare shots of Slash and his band in action and also includes an official die-cast metal Slash pin badge and a giant poster. A must for all Slash fans.

Order Classic Rock's Slash II Fan Pack directly from MyFavouriteMagazines.co.uk and you will also receive an EXCLUSIVE official Slash metal keyring - unavailable in the shops or anywhere else!

I really like quite a few songs from his solo album.  It gets more airtime from me than any other new releases.

That said I wanna see more of this from Slash:

Easily his most emotive piece of playing since Guns IMHO.  There is lots of good stuff littered throughout his solo album, but at times whilst we see glimpses of greatness he falls short with much of it for some reason.

I think the guy still has shit like Street Child and old guns stuff in him it just requires the right setting, song, vocalist to draw it out.  I think he also needs to be pushed too, it seems like at times he gets lazy and is happy with something ok rather than keep working at it until it's awesome.

Sometimes I think his desire to just get it done so he can go out and tour/play overides his desire to keep working at it until its great.  He can then tour, play a few new songs but also rest on the laurels of his back catalogue and fame to help carry the tour.

You know I asked about and tried to reference that song there awhile back and for whatever reason Slash fans drew a blank.

Yeah I agree. That's a very overlooked, MAJOR highlight of Slash's post-GN'R career that shows what he's capable of.

prefer it to album 1 but this rock art that both Slash & Axl are reverting to [(Guns N Tits) I think one of the guys described it as...] is a bit poor.

The guys who do the Soundgarden stuff should work with Slash.

Of the GN'R and Slash art, the GN'R stuff is fractionally better. But it's cheesy as hell. Though let's be honest, GN'R's album artwork has always been pretty atrocious. The alternate Chinese Democracy covers (How Are You Grenade etc) are as close as they've come to anything decent.

This title is... bad. Not fan of the album artwork either. I really hope that the music is better. Wouldn't be too hard though.

The great tragedy is that Slash's playing on songs like Street Child and Messages would perfectly suit Axl's emotive lyrics. Instead of the banal "Starlight is bright tonight" cack that Myles comes up with.

I mean, even that Messages from Madagascar bodge job gives you a hint of what Slash and Axl would be capable of together.

damn...never seen that Elan thing...my favorite solo by him since Guns. Hands down....much better than Messages because of the singer....not a Weiland fan at all.
