Re: M.I.A. - Bad Girls
She did what some reality star or some disposable rap/pop tart would have done to grab headlines. She's ranted against manufactured publicity stunts in previous years now she's crowned herself queen of the dipshits. The MIA of 05-07 pukes on this stunt.

She used to be so interesting and unique. I figured she might do something but that was bottom of the barrel and reeked of desperation. She's now reduced herself to shit she made fun of lesser talents doing.
Please exit stage left & quietly fuck off.
Re: M.I.A. - Bad Girls
WOW. I would've thought Lofton would've been in here slamming the NFL and Parent's groups to fuck off... not MIA. Whoa, if anybody pulled a "shocking" move it was James.

I'm asking you because I know your the expert on this... is there a chance that her being a mother now has changed her personality and perception towards the industry and her future?
Is there a personality that she might be softer now because she 'needs' the paycheck, rather than 'wants' the paycheck?
Second question...
Could the epic, legendary flop that was /\/\/\Y/\, and her "doing it her way" be the cause of her about face to embrace a more radio-ready format? Especially with GaGa basically taking her ball from a few years ago and becoming a stadium rock act, because GaGa embraced her pop culture persona?
Re: M.I.A. - Bad Girls
y'know i'd like to say how dumb & daft a lot of american's are to get upset over something as nonsensical as this. i'd like to say there's just too many americans & w/too much free time on their hands.
but beside me the brits are embroiled in a controversy over their football teams captain (soccerball for you yanks ftr).
people are insane.
there is a genocide occurring in syria yet people are distracted by this hokum. it's sad how one little performance - or one idiotic footballer/soccerball player can garner such attn.
this one american guy gets it tho:
JERRY: So I move into the centre lane, now I get ahead of this women, who felt for some reason I guess, that she thought that I cut her off. So, she pulls up along side of me, gives me the finger. It seems like such an arbitrary, ridiculous thing to just pick a finger and you show it to the person. It’s a finger, what does it mean? Someone shows me one of their fingers and I’m supposed to feel bad. Is that the way it’s supposed to work? I mean, you could just give someone the toe, really, couldn’t you? I would feel worse if I got the toe, than if I got the finger. ‘Cause it’s not easy to give someone the toe, you’ve gotta get the shoe off, the sock off and drive, get it up and... “Look at that toe, buddy.” I mean, that’s really insulting to get the toe, isn’t it?
as for MIA i would actually say her whole career has been "amateur attention whore shit". now that's not to say there wasn't something admirable in her world/pop fusion & intentions, at a time. but she always wanted to shock & be noticed.
but by the time of Kala she was already well on the way down.
BUT in her defense (of a kind), i flicked on the new Madonna vid w/o know who was in it & was surprised @ how wll MIA looked. imo she hasn't looked this hot since ever so that's something.
i really don't think it requires the fanatical response, especially from the haters. it's only a fucking finger. it's part of a performance. it's not controversial or a manufactured publicity stunt.
(as for Minaj, her Monster bit is still the only worthwhile thing she's contributed.)

Americans aren't upset about this. They just aren't. This ain't nothing but over-blown media cumming over trying to turn MIA's situation into another Janet Jackson incident. And Parental Advocacy groups are fucking jokes too as they slam MIA for flipping the bird, but yet let objectifying and demoralizing GoDaddy commercials just fly. Whatever man.
Honest to God John, most Americans didn't even notice that she flipped the bird. They found out later when the media reminded them over and over.
I think in James case, it's a low point for her. I know/knew several Buckethead fans who felt the same way when Bucket joined GN'R. They thought it was a total sellout moment.
Certain underground music fans just never ever want their artist to become apart of the mainstream. Look at Metallica.
Re: M.I.A. - Bad Girls
4 things happened which altered her career in various ways, none of them good.
Paper Planes exploding globally. She deserved success but it went to her head & she spent 2 years coasting on it.
Hooking up with a trust fund baby as Paper Planes exploded.
Re: M.I.A. - Bad Girls
Best she can hope for is pulling in a casual audience again with another hit or manufactured publicity stunts, which is exactly what she's trying. The hardcores are GONE. Her sites consist of a few old fans as staff members & some post paper planes fans.
