Re: So.... What's Next?
Got to disagree again, man. It may sound dated to you, but it doesn't to me.
And I don't know what you're talking about with UYI songs, I didn't bring anything about UYI up. I pointed to some songs on Chinese Democracy that have nothing to do with being industrial, like CITR, TIL and Sorry... But you can add IRS, ITW and The Blues in there as well. Shacklers is actually mostly Bucket's guitar effects and little synth work. But even Riad is guitar driven, just like Scraped. Outside the drum loop, Prostitute is piano driven with guitars and orchestrations. TWAT is filled with synths and loops, but I still consider it a hard rock song.
And Axl brought Robin in to solely play industrial guitar? Like The Blues solo... TIL solo? Better's Solo? His TWAT solo? Again, I hear it in his CD riffs, but... Maybe Alx brought him in solely because he liked Robin's playing?
Madagascar on the other hand is a Depeche Mode style synth driven song, imo. CD is industrial influenced. By I love that song. Nothing wrong with it, imo. And as long as Mother Goose is in the band, you're going to keep getting synths. Better is loaded with synths, but, like TWAT, I consider it a hard rock song, especially seeing you can hear that Robin wrote it with those riffs, it's not a synth driven song.
As for a new album, I am sure, going by what everyone involved has said, that it will be the album Axl's been intending to release all along. That's where I got that. And even then, Tommy has talked about other songs that haven't been fleshed out that will probably see the light of day somehow. Will they make a true blue original album? Maybe, but like I said, I don't see it happening anytime soon. Axl isn't dumping his babies that he's toiled over and is attached to just because some people on the forums want him to start from scratch. That's not my assumption, that shit just ain't happening. If there's anything new on the next album it may be like two or three songs, like Bucket adding Sorry, SR and Scraped to CD.
Re: So.... What's Next?
Saw this over at htgth. Say what you want about Jarmo, but he's not in the habit of posting wild rumors with no base in reality. So my guess is that something is under way for Europe in a few months!
Any Polish speaking people here?

If that's the case then they need to release it AS IS!!!
No re-recording anything massive, beyond tweaking.
Chinese-the song is a case of tweaking done right. Better drums, added rhythm, but the good stuff stays the same.
Shackler's as much as Ron did the guitar solo great, it was Bucket's song and Bucket's original version should've been released. Not to mention there's a great Bucket solo that gets stomped on in the outro.
Better, the 2006 demo was Better. Although Robin's original work seemed to still make the album, as did Bucket's little parts.
Catcher is a prime example of LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE. It was Ron's first shot at re-recording, and although Catcher is too strong of a song to fuck up too badly, the Brian May original was FAR superior.
Riad is another case of leave it alone. The leaked demo was better.
Personally if GN'R worked like a real band, what i'd do is re-record it from top-to-bottom and release the album, then when the re-release happens, throw in a second disc full of the original versions and cutting room floor demos from that period that it was recorded. As long as it gets released for the fans like myself, I don't care. But if I had to choose. I'd rather have the originals, than the re-records.
But i'm sure, "never gonna happen, never gonna happen" even though every other band does shit like that constantly.
Re: So.... What's Next?
so now we know Another tour is the Answer, what's REALLY next?
imo it's gotta be #1 IFW added to the setlist
& #2 TWAT added to the setlist
& then maybe #3 Perfect Crime Crime added to the setlist.
.......
