I just got back from seeing it.

I agree with James, except for the character part.

They weren't very deep, but I at least cared a little about what happened to them.

The monster was very bizarre looking and I have to say it was pretty lame when it came face to face with the camera guy.  It's like they had to do that or something, but it made the movie more predictable than it already was.

are there any movies that dont leave the end open for a sequel any more? 16

While the aliens do get killed at the end, a lot of people expected a sequel to Independence Day but one was never made.

Its one of the only massive summer blockbusters to never have a sequel.

At first I thought the monster was just going to stare at the guy and then walk away but that's obviously not what happened.  I guess after thinking about it, it was pretty cool.

That opening was a pretty lame gamble by the producers, seriously I'm a big movie buff, but their were alot of people either asleep or ready to walk out before something happened, I was almost with them.

This was one of those 'event' films, and will no doubt be mentioned on every year end mag, news show, etc.

I'm shocked so few people here went and watched this.

I've been thinking of starting a thread on 'LOST' for a while now... Anyone here pick up on the Cloverfield/Lost connections?

The DHARMA symbol can be seen in Cloverfields opening sequence:

Theres also Beth McIntyre sharing the same surname as Hugh McIntyre, the Communications Director for the Hanso Foundation.

The Lost ARG has similiar references to Cloverfield big_smile
