A female vocalist would be a damn good idea, given that Axl basically has a female vocal range.

Are you being sarcastic? I truly hope so.

As that is the worst Paradise City cover I have ever seen.

Like give me Axl on a terrible night during 2002, and it is still better than that shit from the Linkin Park douche bag.

I think the best bet for Velvet Revolver is see how things go with Scott on that one show and if it is cool, bring him back.

Not a huge VR fan, I bought both albums. However, you've got to go with Scott Weiland, why even bother, trying too replace him. It ain't going to be AC/DC.

Brent Smith and Slash's guitar would probably be the only thing currently in the world that would deserve true 2nd place behind Axl.

The funny thing?

Brent Smith IS the younger version of Axl. He pretty much runs Shinedown like Axl does GN'R. Tons of lineup changes, and Brent pretty much owns the name.

Lineup changes owning the name  is where that comparison ends my friend

Seems to be a common theme around here. I don't have an issue with it - I mean there is ZERO comparison between Axl and Myles. Axl just destroys myles on that song in every way possible...but to me that's obvious as no one can adequately sing Axl except Axl.

So the real comparison is what is Myles like covering GNR as opposed to who else might be covering GNR with slash.

Let's listen to them back:

Or hey...if you tolerated that one (Duff/Slash/Matt do make it passable)...maybe you should cop a listen to this:

The guitars on the Made in Stoke version are amongst Slash's best live performances I think...Myles sure aint Axl...but to me it's a step above Scott (who I like but who just can't sing in Axl's register) and guys like Rod Jackson who just seem to yell their way through it.

I always liked how Scott did Brownstone.. Rod Jackson is terrible. Fuck

Yeah Brent is a great vocalist, but he is purely from the power/melodic rock meets post-grunge background. I wouldn't be shocked if Bon Jovi & Creed were huge influences on him.

Brent might be able to sing Simple Man really damn good, but i'd love to see someone off the cuff throw "Whole Lotta Rosie" at him live.

It'd probably be an epic fail for Brent vocally.

I was a pretty big VR supporter, and like what they tried.  Unfortunately, in hindsight, I think Scott was the wrong choice.  At the time it wasn't a bad pick, I suppose you combine the albums & you got some great work, but it never seemed to fully click. Like Van Hagar. VR's always gonna be "Oh that band Slash had with the STP guy".  Sorry, but it's true.

They can't have a noname guy.  It'll be a joke.  Get together with Chris Robinson or Izzy or someone, not some ham & egger. They're pretty close to over though, in my opinion though the door is shut. Doing another with Scott may not be a bad way to wrap it up either.
