Yeah..I don't have it around but I'm sure he's said in a couple of interviews that generally his solos are done pretty off the top of his head anyway. Like he just jams out an idea for a solo in the demo - then 90% of the time the studio track uses the exact same ideas.

SLASH Going For More 'Raw' Sound On Second Album - Jan. 4, 2012

Now that the holidays are over, ex-GUNS N' ROSES and VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash and his backing band are returning to the studio to complete the legendary axeman's second solo album. According to The Pulse Of Radio, Slash told Total Guitar that he's going for a more live feel this time around, explaining, "We're just going for the one take that sounds good, so my solos are more raw, probably sloppier in a way, because they're very spontaneous to the point where it's in the heat of the moment."

He added, "Everything is being played live with the music tracks: the solos, everything. We're trying not to overdub extra bits. So if there's a solo, I'm playing on one side, Myles [Kennedy]'s rhythm track is on the other."

Unlike his 2010 solo debut, which featured a number of guest vocalists and session players, Slash is recording this album with his touring band, which includes singer/guitarist Myles Kennedy of ALTER BRIDGE.

Slash told The Pulse Of Radio that he's never felt more comfortable or relaxed in a band situation before now. "I definitely have found a certain freedom to be able to feel comfortable expressing myself with the guys that I'm working with, and just being able to focus on what it is that I like to focus on, and not having a lot of outside distraction and internal distraction and confusion," he said. "So yeah, this has been the most fun that I've had since the earliest GUNS days."

Early song titles for Slash's sophomore effort include "Bad Rain", "Halo", "Standing In The Sun" and "Far And Away". The record is expected to arrive in April.

So it's Myles on rhythm, and Bobby is not part of the recording group.

I'm afraid of the "probably sloppier in a way" spontaneous solos... Slash took his time to write guitar solos note by note, built arund a melody and didn't improvise in the studio during the GN'R years. Snakepit 1 was well-worked out, too, probably his best work as a guitarist. (Not the catchiest, but IMO the best.) Snakepit 2 suffered from not-that-worked-out songs and solos, and probably alcohol. VR... was a total throwback... the improvised solos on Libertad were sometimes out of tone here and there...shame...and I'm still angry for his lack of work on his own solo album. Half-finished songs, one-take improvised solos... meh... I like when a musician has a philosophy, but it better works.

I want virtuoso Slash, not sloppy Slash.

It does sound worrying.

Then again the comfort in being able to do his own thing was what gave us those snakepit 1 solos that are so cool.

I agree about snakepit 2 though. It's a cool album and all but one or two specific moments aside,  really it listens to me like slash came over to my place had a few beers and started jamming out some shit. Cos he's slash even his random impro'd shit is kinda cool...but it's not up there with what he can do when he sets out on a mission from the beginning.

I can only hope that the happiness will work to let him channel his powers and just play some bad ass stuff.

The guitar solo on the stoke DVD is improv and pretty fucking awesome...  I hope he is on that level when he solos....

No worries here...I'm not even sure Slash could play sloppy if he wanted to these days!!! This record will be top notch.
