Re: Sorum Says Velvet Revolver Are Eyeing Potential New Singer
Interestingly I feel he's going back to his old style more in solo stuff...so let's hope it continues.
Here's a "what if" idea though - why didn't he do the solo record as a VR album. One way out of dilemma and to get publicity would have been to do a VR record with guest spots from all those famous singers. Basically make it exactly the same as he did - except with Duff and Matt on drums and bass and brand it as VR's first album post scott.
That's totally what they should've done. Would've been pretty cool just like Slash's record but Velvet Revolver. I wonder if the idea ever came up or not.

Well the fact Matt actually named a guy is kinda cool
“Yeah, they’re at home trying out a guy right now. They’re sitting in a room looking at a singer named Jimmy Gnecco [of OURS].
I posted a couple clips above what do you thik Axlin?
Re: Sorum Says Velvet Revolver Are Eyeing Potential New Singer
VR are eyeing a new singer for Velvet Revolver.
They might or might not audition him in MARCH
That folks is the ONLY fucking thing going on in the VR world right now.
Maybe slash and duff are just telling sorum to keep looking for a singer so they can keep him busy. You know just string him along by saying check this guy out, go research that guy, we should audition this dude etc etc. They can then proceed to push their current projects and only fall back on VR if what they are doing runs it's course.
Meanwhile they have Sorum in a holding pattern running around in circles chasing his tail waiting, waiting, waiting
Re: Sorum Says Velvet Revolver Are Eyeing Potential New Singer
Gnecco's got a Radiohead/Muse thing going on. He's got a sweet voice, but no edge that I heard. They really need someone that can put a dangerous edge on their voice for all out rockitude. And yeah, not just Rod Jackson yelling, actual anger.
But he's certainly one of the best they've talked about so far, and far better than Myles.

He reminds me of the guy from Slash's solo album that sings "Saint is a Sinner Too".. I wouldn't mind Todd Kerns on vocals. That guy can sing too...

He's better than Myles, vocally he's nice, but he's simply not a realistic option, unless he's gonna drastically alter himself vocally for VR.
I don't see that voice fronting VR. I just don't. Like Aussie said, seems like Slash & Duff have Matt out there chasing "G-14 Classified jobs" (Rush Hour reference).

Meh...he's not better than myles till he sings nighttrain or civil war IMO.
Sure myles can't sing them like Axl...but there's a reason that they've never been present in a VR / Snakepit set too....and it's called someone who sings like scott just can't fucking do it

Re: Sorum Says Velvet Revolver Are Eyeing Potential New Singer
Myles can't either.
Myles sings them at least as good as DJ plays them. Far better than Robin did. Enough is enough, if GN'R can play those songs without Slash, then other singers can sing those songs, too. It's like replacing Jimmy Page in Led Zeppelin - you just can't, but for the average listener, Robert Plant would be missed more.
I find it funny though that some 'new band fans' here get ecstatic when this line-up is playing another old Slash song. Another boards were celebrating not only Estranged and Civil War, but the rumoured Perfect Crime in the setlist. Hey, this happens if you can't write anything that comes close to those songs. Not even is 17 years with a hundred hired musicians.
Anyway, this Gnecco guy is great, and I agree with Smoking, he reminds me of Rocco. I wouldn't mind if VR would change their style a bit, and that could easily happen since without Scott, they are not forced to write STP riffs.
