I was on one of those live streams a few weeks back and asked him how his back was holding up. He said it wasn't good, constant pain, and it seemed like touring wasn't helping the situation. But as the stream went on he got in a better mood, and he seems to be in great spirits onstage. I guess he hides his feelings well for the most part, but at the same time he lets it out from time to time.
Things are going great for the band right now, so it has to be a tough spot for him. He's impressed me more than ever on this tour with his playing, he's such an integral part of the band now. They really would be missing a lot without him. And while I'd love for them to carry on with the momentum they've built, if he needs to take some time off after this tour, then he should do so. I just hope he can make it through these next couple of weeks as well as possible.

I really hope he'll recover quickly, and sort out the family business with as little pain possible. I always liked the guy's personality and like him as a musician. My favourite player of the post classic line-ups.

Jeez sounds awful, really feel for the guy, never realised that accident caused so many injuries.
Its a real credit to him that he is trying to struggle through it so's not to let anyone down, but mabye he's asking too much of himself, he sounds really stressed out and just not well enough for this.
Dunno what the answer would be though, doesnt sound like a week off or something would make a difference to him, its more like his recovery is going to be part of his long term future

I dunno what can really be said about this other than it's something fucked happening to a wonderful guy.
It's amazing how life swings around too. You know like a couple of years back - most people I know would kill to be bumblefoot - you know - freakish level of talent - playing in a major band - happily married etc. All those things are still true (tankfully) but when you see how quickly someones life can get messed up - hearing about this accident, the constant pain he's in, the psychological pressure and so on...
I really love what he's done for GNR, but fuck all that, just on a personal and a human level I really hope he can find some solace. Constant pain really fucks with you - aside from the actual pain one of the hardest parts is how it fucks with the mind...the regret of what caused it, feeling inadequate compared to what you used to do, jealousy of normal people, sadness, frustration, fear of it getting even worse. It can really be a living hell, and for someone who started off hyper, active, zainy and a little nuts (the good nuts - like musical genius who can play stuff backward nuts) it's probably a very hard road to be on.
I just hope that eventually his brain adjusts to the pain and blocks some out, or that he finds a treatment that works, and that he finds a way to be happy somehow.
