No one can blame us for not sticking with this stuff. That's 10 years of Chinese Democracy.

That's Sarah Michelle Gellar in the background, urgh.

Wow, seeing that Sarah Michelle Gellar poster really reminds me how much time has past.

There was a time when CD was all we were about in anticipation, and there was also a time where people thought Sarah was the hottest thing on the planet and would rule the big screen after Buffy.

It's amazing what doesn't pan out.

10 years ago my wall would've had a few years-aged poster of the Dodge Viper, and a hot poster of Neve Campbell.

My how times have changed.

The Viper is now considered a classic, and Neve Campbell is considered a busted up junk yard clunker.

Who'd of thought? 16

Sarah decided to have a family. Who'd have thought? Is her creepy "twin" show still on the air?

Yeah. That poster... 1999, 2000, 2001... it was sort of all about the anticipation, wasn't it? Some crazy new music we never heard, and the promise (not a literal promise, but more like the prospect) of seeing 10 years of touring, music, and all of the stuff bands do. I got tickled to death at the 1 album + bonus tracks, tour, album 2, tour, and finish album 3 "plan". Or the famous "Round one!" pronouncement.
All I wanted was for someone to save me from 3 Doors Down. I don't know about you guys, but wasn't the fun of being a 'tweener' (as in, between old and when 'new' would actually happen) GNR fan thinking that you were "in on" the best rock band there ever was that everyone will love but no one knows about yet...and you knew all along?
So whatever that future was, it's gone.
I think he tried.

So here's to second chances. smile

(It's amazing how graphic design trends have changed...look at the old "new" merchandise, the tour posters, the logos...)

That early Chinese stuff they did, design-wise was one of the coolest stuff I had ever seen. In 2006 it was a joke what they were pulling out for merchandise compared to the 2001-2002. The 2011 stuff is pretty good though, and I'm not saying they should re-do the Chinese things. The irony is that the merchandise showed up when it should (and good too) but the album never did.

2001 was nu-metal times, which funnily enough sticks to GNR to this day even though they were never in nu-metal at all. At the time, I wanted Axl to come out and win those fans over, those light-crying-my-parents-messed-me-up-teenagers. My parents never messed ME up, but I sure as hell would have wanted Uncle Axl to blow those slightly emo metal kids out of the water and turn them all into GNR fans.

Ah, so naive...

And happy to not have that come true...

Such a badass poster. Ugh. I agree that the 2001 stuff seemed so promising. Not just the music, but the whole style and package. sad. Shame it didnt live up to the promise
