It's only a theory, but since Axl got his players in the late 90s to learn the AFD songs to 'catch the GN'R groove' (how it turned out is another story...), and now that Slash is on releasing a new album...
I can't help thinking about that these guys have been playing the better half of AFD non-stop for one and a half year, so it might have influenced the stuff they came up with. It's only daydreaming, but when you play a certain type of music, your new ideas will be influenced by that. So yeah, I expect a heavy classic rock album by Slash & Co, which should be a band effort. I hope he won't overgrow on the others, cause this band seems to be tight - tighter than any post-GN'R incarnation since Snakepit I.

So is Bobby Schneck going to be on the album? The guy plays a mean scratch rhythm, but I have no idea if he can write? In the interview I read from wherever...Slash only mentioned Myles, Kerns, and Fitz as collaborators on his 2nd solo album. But, I recently saw a pic with Schneck included in a studio shot. So does Slash handle all the studio guitar work?

I've been thinking the same thing...while Miles isn't Axl - it's the first time Slash has worked with a singer with similar range - plus sober Slash seems to have got much better guitar chops than circa contraband when he was back on the drugs - add in that he's been playing a bunch of snakepit and AFD of late and I think it could be fucking killer.

Eddie Trunk described the three new songs he heard as heavy with great riffs, so maybe we will get some seriously rocking stuff from Slash? I hope so.

I gotta be honest, a hard rocking record is Slash's best option. It's his strong suit, and thus the reason CD lacked great rockers.

But like Axl is missing the man for the rockers, Slash is missing the man for the ballads. Slash can't write ballads for shit.... mostly. Every so often he comes up with something interesting, then lets an average vocalist shit on it.

He probably should stay away from ballads. When you listen to Slash 2010, and immediately hear Ghost open the album, you know instantly... "this guy has still got it!".

I wish Ian Astbury would do a whole album with Slash. 9

Would be badass if the three guys from that song did an album together. Izzy's 2010 album had some kickass songs on it.

Astbury's voice also melts like butter with Slash's guitar tone too, like Axl's.

It really is a perfect match. Although I wouldn't want to hear Ian on some of the GN'R tracks. Songs like My Michelle, It's So Easy, Mr. Brownstone & Nightrain would rule with Astbury, but hearing a Cult-version of Welcome To The Jungle, Paradise City and Civil War? No.

well Ian isnt doin anything right now is he? i did always find that Ian got stuck in a rut when it came to singing though, many cult songs start sounding alike after a while...ghost IS pretty sweet though

def interersted to see what the albums pans out like, but i think there will be a good mix of ballads vs rockers
