Don't quote me on this. But I think I could see myself getting into this band. Taylor's got that modern Runaways vibe. That's way more interesting than some of the other openers. I actually like the way that they're doing the opening acts on this tour though. Each band for a few dates has a certain appeal over one or two bands for an entire tour. It's a good way to discover new things.

I really only heard one song of hers and couldn't remember it. Like that other opening band, I don't think it's bad. I mean, it is what it is. I actually thought of The Runaways, too. I think she takes herself wayyyyy too seriously, though.

Okay maybe i'm being too harsh. She does come across image-wise like a hot grunge girl, Courtney-influenced, showing her cootch to anyone that will look at 17, and even that's fine.
But it's the actual music... it's so refined, and streamlined, and manufactured rebellion. Kind of like country's "Outlaws" Miranda Lambert and Gretchen Wilson. Shit like that.
And this is coming from a guy who liked Adelitas Way. Taylor's actual music is just too... teeny bop.
I'd love to get a date with Taylor. One night i'd get her drunk, take her in a studio and just have us do an acoustic version of this...

The Runaways comparison popped into my head right away, and I'm going to have to stick with it. Obviously, you're exaggerating to make a point, but "ran through a Disney/Hannah Montana blender and then bored into a sippy cup" is pretty far off the mark. I don't know a lot about Hannah Montana, but I doubt that there were a lot of episodes where she flashed her underage tape-covered tits or crawled around a recreation of the Last Supper 3/4 naked. I made a point of saying a *modern* Runaways vibe, because if we're being honest, these things almost make the original Runaways schtick sound tame.
You're objecting more to the idea of her sounding like the Runaways though, and I can't disagree with that point. The Pretty Reckless definitely have a more modern rock/Hole-inspired sound, and (although I've always been more of a Breeders fan) I don't have a problem with that. It's poppy choruses over loud rock guitars. That describes about 90% of the bands that I listen to. If this band's not your thing (or even mine?), that's fine. But let's not act like it's "Skater Boi". Heh.

It feels a bit manufactured, but it feels like that because it's so damn polished. It's a good produced album. She still doesn't convince me image-wise but I don't give a crap when the songs are listenable and good.
