Bono, you keep going on about how people don't do research... As I've said to you many times, if they have a computer with internet access or read a music magazine, then they probably have a slight idea about what's going on with GN'R in the last 10-15 years. GN'R has been a trending topic and on the front page of yahoo several times over the years. If anyone, at any point, was a big enough fan of GN'R to blindly buy a ticket to a show or purchase an album, you would think, at the very least, that at some point in the last 15 years they would have read SOMETHING about GN'R that would have updated them, just a little, about what's happened after 1996 with the band.

You can stop using the reasearch line already an acting like it's some big ordeal to click a link, or type Guns N' Roses or even Axl in a search engine, or read an article in a magazine or on a website that mentions them. There have been MANY articles on MANY websites and in MANY magazines and TV shows that have talked about the current line up of GN'R, Axl and has mentioned Chinese Democracy.

You can stop with he average  person cares as much as we do bullshit. Most people hear the band is coming to town on  the radio and buy tickets then show up the night of the show. MOST people do not care to read about the band online despite how often they are trending topic.  And no shit I'm sure in 15 years someone has read or heard something about them but the average person doesn't give a fraction of a shit the way we do. You guys seriously overestimate the general publics interest or effort to find things out about a band that for the most part they just like when it comes on radio. The fact you seriously believe the average Joe is typeing their name into a serach engine on a  regular basis to find shit out is hilarious. Like I said online fan forum bubble. have at it.

I'll buy that. There probably are a few.

Agreed.  Furthermore, I'll add that I think it's foolish that anyone would send $100+ on something they have done no research on.  The information is readily available.  If you don't seek it out and get informed before hand, that's on you.

Ali

All of this.

You simply cannot tell me that everyone outside of the forums going to a GN'R show A) Doesn't know Slash isn't there and B) doesn't know how late GN'R goes on stage.

And nobody said this. NOBODY said "
EVERYONE" why some of you act this way is such bullshit. You hear something you don't liek and you twist words aroudn to make it so ridiculosu to prove your patehtic point.  I'm saying most(MOST NOT EVERYONE, Can you comprehend that?)people dont' care to reserach the way some of you sugest. You guys act as though the average person who buys a  ticket is going about it the exact same way you are which is absolutely NOT true. the average person who buys a ticket buys their ticketa dn then goes to the show. They aren't reading reviews of Gn'R's last 10 shows or reading about the latest lineup of the band. Seriously I'm one person and I just agve you guys ONE person's example of going to the show with 9 different people who don't ahve a clue and one guy who text me ito ask if Slash was still in  the band. Shit if I have that experience as one person for anyone  to even begin to think there's more peopel out there liek thsi  is just ridiculous.

I just think they're fucking stupid and that's their fault.

Ali said it... seriously, they're gonna spend $100 on a fucking show and have no clue what they're seeing beyond just "Guns N' Roses". I just find that crazy. When I saw Ozzy Osbourne earlier this year, I find myself an Ozzy fan and even I looked up who was in the band to get familiar with what I was seeing before I went. And what did I use... Wiki.

Yep.

To me it's grasping at straws for certain folks these days. Anyone who claims that the "average music fan" goes to a Guns N' Roses show and doesn't know Slash won't be there is just plain wrong. Same goes for start times. It's mentioned by DJ's all the time, it's in magazines, etc. Information like Slash not being in GN'R and late start times is "in the air supply" so to speak.

And like you said; even if it wasn't that the person's loss for not making an informed decision. I myself, I just don't hand out $100 to anyone. If I'm giving someone $100, I'm going to find out what I'm spending my money on first. Luckily, with GN'R the 2 things I mentioned are very much common knowledge so people don't have to do "research" and even if they did, it would be their responsibility to do so.

I think Bono has less belief in humanitys ability to search Wikipedia than most.

Grasping at straws.

Easy solution:

Next time one of you guys goes to one of the upcoming shows, walk around and ask a number of total strangers (outside the pit) if they know who is NOT in the band.

It's a given that the majority will know that Slash is no longer a member in GNR!

To suggest otherwise is, like someone said, like grasping for straws as things are moving further away from your pipedream!

i agree with bono cuz i know that aside from any other band (except gnr) i really have no idea what i am getting into when i go to a concert

i just dont follow any other band with the same gusto that i follow guns...

and when i go to shows i expect to hear the hists with maybe a couple new tunes in there

STP, MEgadeth, Pearljam, INXS, theory of a deadman, tea party, black label society .... some of a few that i bought tickets for with at tiems not even knowing who was even in the band
