Re: W.A.R.: The Unauthorized Biography of William Axl Rose (By Mick Wall)
I already pre-ordered mine when I ordered Reckless Road. I have my opinion of Mick Wall, but I get excited with any new GN'R book. This one promises to at least be ... well, we know Axl will be reading it, too.
Re: W.A.R.: The Unauthorized Biography of William Axl Rose (By Mick Wall)
my problem with mick wall is that he's biased...and i think the peice will be biased...most journalists are already biased towards axl...and i can read those articles for free...i dont need to spend $20 to read more of the same...now if the book proves to be written otherwise i may get it....but i'm gonna wait for the reviews
Re: W.A.R.: The Unauthorized Biography of William Axl Rose (By Mick Wall)
isn't this out already, and this is just a reprint of the same, with some minor changes?
i already have this book, it came out late 2007
He puts updates on his blog/website every once in a while about it, supposedly he was just putting the finishing touch to it a few weeks ago.
So unless you're talking about another book, i.e "Reckless Road".

Yeah it came out late last year. I had a copy but flicked it on ebay after I read it. It had a different cover with it - it was a black and white photo of Axl with his shirt off. It was also called WAR. My understanding was the book in your link is an updated version of that book.
Here is a pic of the first book:

The book was ok (I don't have a major problem with Mick Wall), all though there was nothing really ground breaking in there. It was more of a amalgamation of all the articles and info that is already readily available on the net. Unfortuantely, i have found all the GN'R books (except for Slash's and the one by Paul Stenning), to be like that.

Sorry, you guys are right, I'm wrong.

Spent the day trying to finish off the update for the paperback edition of the Axl book. This meant listening to the 11-track CD someone sent me earlier this year of Chinese Democracy. Obviously I don't have all the tracks. According to our mutual friend Sebastian Bach there are maybe four CDs worth of songs out there. But it does give you a good idea of what we're talking about. Bottom line: it's like everyone who's ever heard this stuff says, he shoulda put it out AGES ago. Everyone that is, except Axl.
Re: W.A.R.: The Unauthorized Biography of William Axl Rose (By Mick Wall)
Someone bought me this book so I felt I should read it....was ok, but kinda jumped all over the place, like talking about 89 jump to 93 and back to 89
Mick mentions a couple odd things I thought worth discussing
1 Oklahoma being played at the first Vegas show
2 Tobias being forced out by the new band for similar reasons that the old band quit gnr
Anyone else read this that has an opinion?

Interesting that you mention this, as I was reading the old Vegas 01.01.01 reviews on GNRontour.com last week and found the very same mention from "Allstar News"...
After a funny, short animated video (see Miss Truth for details), the set, obviously mapped out with the fan in mind, kicked off with a rapid-fire assault of such GNR staples as "Welcome to the Jungle," "It's So Easy," "Mr. Brownstone," and "Live and Let Die" before even venturing into new material, which included the warmly-received "Oh My God." The debut of four other new songs -- "Blues," the title track to the upcoming album "Chinese Democracy," "Silk Worms," and "Oklahoma" -- were met with less excitement and upon first listen lacked the direction and hook-laden style of the old stuff.
I compared the setlist with the review and "Oklahoma" was actually "Riad".
