Re: Duff- RE: Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Not to continue this...but I read Axlin's post a little differently.
I saw it as:
Recently the band had been quiet since the end of 2010 (depressing for fans), then there was much anticipation for the Rio show due to the status of Rio3 and Rio2 as iconic GNR peformances and the knowledge of a live stream after the silence - causing anticipatuion that GNR may arrive with something unexpected - new music or a new look or somekind of RIR3 type moment. Fan expectation was up.
Then when RIR4 happened, not only did nothing really new occur, but it's fair to say that the peformance was to many people disapointing and considered even by many so called normally "positive" posters to be amongst the poorest shows the band had ever peformed.
While it's not the worst ever moment in GNR history, and there's sure been people saying Axl will have to quit in the past, I think as an online comunity the fan base was as a whole probably more disillusioned than "normal" - following that event. Many seemed to think that if RIR had gone south - when it's usually the "showpiece" of a GNR moment - then the subsequent USA tour would go worse - given USA is percieved to be a tougher market than SA, and the collapse of the last USA tour, and that Axl appeared at Rio to be slightly out of shape, not singing anywhere near his best and potentially otherwise distressed and emotional.
So i think a lot of people were kind of worried.
Fast forward a few weeks....and the band played a number of SA shows that went much better, even the dreaded USA tour has not yet imploded, we've had a positive review from someone who posts a lot in our own little pool in the online world, and the band has started acting more 'normal' - such as Axl granting his first proper interview in god knows how long - and it's a video apperance at that.
So I sort of read it as his saying as a community here at evo "we" have more reason to be positive now. I don't think he ment to say that everyone feels better just cos he does, or that the USA gig trumps all international ones.
Simply that some of the collective fears of the fanbase following rio appear to not be playing out.
Re: Duff- RE: Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Slash in 2010: "I have no idea how that's supposed to go. If Axl, Duff, Izzy and myself start communicating, it could go one way. It we don't, God knows."
You know. Slash is the only variable in that Axl Duff Izzy thing. Axl Duff and Izzy are on great terms.
I would really really love to know just why Axl hates Slash so much.
Izzy left, Duff left, Matt and Steve left, he's made amends with all of them, and Izzy and Duff in a most public and triumphant manner.
What the hell happened between Axl n Slash? Or is it all in Axl's head ?
This is the one thing in all this saga I was hoping Duff's book would clear up but I guess the stakes were too high.
We know if Izzy ever does a book it'll focus mostly on bike maintenance, Steve.....yeah.. and Matt? I don't even read that guys liner notes.

Re: Duff- RE: Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Yeah, this one is super odd for me. I really don't know how it'll play. I mean, the closest thing I can even think of was/is the Floyd situation. The 3 Floyds played Wish You Were Here with Billy Corgan of all people on bass while Roger sat right there in the crowd and watched. Then a couple years later, all 4 played together at the Live 8 show. Seems like they could've just done the same a few years prior, but there was no way it was happening.
At this point, I honestly see maybe Duff showing up to accept and everyone else blowing it off?
Your memory on Floyd is a bit off. They were inducted in 1996 and it took almost a decade after that incident before Live 8 happened in 2005. The only reason they got together for Live 8 is because it was a charitable cause. That's not the case with GN'R and the RRHOF. Floyd at Live 8 has to be one of the best live performances ever. Dudes absolutely nailed it. I felt bad for Paul McCartney, who had to come on stage right after that.
Re: Duff- RE: Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
You don't deserve an apology John. Really retarded stuff from you.
Thanks Russ
I'm sorry, I don't believe a single thing Matt says. I heard him on Monsters Of The Mid Day a long time ago, where he said Axl got them into a room, he included himself, while they were all drunk and stoned and made HIM sign over the GN'R name to him or he wouldn't go on tour.
Matt said HE signed over his rights. HIS RIGHTS.
Matt never had any rights to the GN'R name. And I've never heard from Slash or Duff, the only ones who had rights to the name, ever include Matt in that story.
I'm not shocked by that at all. Matt is the biggest douche to ever be in GN'R. I know he performed on the UYI records, but no offense... the drummer in GN'R has always been a disposable position. It just is. Frank is perfectly good, and will probably be GNR's drummer for the forseeable future.
Re: Duff- RE: Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
fuck you guy
you could answer my fucking questions instead of trying to insult me, same goes for russ. i don't want to discuss it PM. i don't think there's anything more i need to say, i'm waiting on a civilised response but i guess i won't hold my breath.
anyway, just back from duff's book signing.
i asked him about loaded opening for guns & he said:
"i heard that got out. yea if it happens it'd be cool, if not no big deal"

Great, how many people showed up there, there was more HMV staff than guys outside, 20 mins before hand or so?
Re: Duff- RE: Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
they started letting us in about 20mins before which is why there was so few outside
there was a lotta people there. 100+, maybe 150+ probably more than that actually. i was in the queue from about 12:20 & i was standing on up passed Game which might help give an indication of the crowd. queue at least doubled after i got there.
it didn't start til about 1:40 & i was another hour waiting (cause security fucked up & let loadsa people from the back of the queue in front by being stupid - a woman in front of me complained & eventually they evened out the line's - they'd split us into two lines & got confused about where one was meant to end & the other begin)

I must walked past you then, I seen 7 or so with books, really didn't realise. Was on the 3rd floor looking through DVDs for a bit.
100 is alot, if he did show up late maybe I could have made it afterall.
