under the excuse that someone awesome has been obtained to provide a tribute for them.

the ONLY band i'd wanna see pay tribute to GnR is The Icarus Line

but that's never gonna happen

if axl/slash/gnr members don't perform it's gonna be some industry hack that'll be even more embarrassing, cause there is nobody awesome left in rock @ the level the RRHOfF is interested in.

Interesting comparision with Floyd...I didn't know that.

Here's some slash comments about it:

Slash in 2008: "Somebody asked me, 'Do you think you guys will be able to show up for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (induction ceremony) in five years?' "I was like, 'Oh, I guess we're eligible.' It never dawned on me before then. If this comes up, I'd hope we'd be mature enough to get up and do that, but I have no idea"

Axl in 2009: "There's zero possibility of me having anything to do with Slash other than by ambush, and that wouldn't be pretty"

Can't find it but i swear there's an interview with Slash where he says something like "all I know is I'll go, what Axl does is up to him, but I'm going" (paraphraed not a real quote...but i'm sure somewhere he said something like that).

Axl said that before he watched the youtube vids of Slash ripping the old GNR songs a new asshole with his killer playing.

^ Lol.

It's interesting actually..most of his covers used to be limited to patience/brownstone...but now it's classic hits...so is Slash busting out the GNR favs now (scom, civil war etc) because he's finally found someone who can hit those pitches (scott just doesnt have that sort of range) - or - is it because he was saving them for a reunion and has now finally gone "fuck it".

Slash is on fire at the moment that's for sure.

I really don't see Axl and Slash being involved at the same time, I just don't. In the end, I'm betting we get one or the other at best.

Me too...and I think Slash's response if they are chosen to that dilemma will be to go and offer to play with anyone ...and then that leaves the situation as entirely Axl's move and Axl's problem with the fan base if he refuses.

Just my 2c.

Still looking for the quote but I'm sure he basicly said something like "All I know is I'll go".

What is "all this"?

We, as GN'R fans, we're all on every board (myself included) making like it was the end of times during and after Rio. Everyone was running around posting like the band was over.

Then a string of very successful Latin American and Mexican dates followed by a super kick off to the US Tour and the Trunk interview have a lot of "us" hopefully where we weren't last week. That's how it reads across all of the major forums.

So it's not Axlin's word, it's the general view of GN'R fans who wanted something to be positive about and now have it. Those who were looking for something to be negative about can still call all of this negative, so it works out for them too.

And if by "all this" you mean, my stepping in when you insult another member, as a moderator, that's part of my job. So when I see a user directly stereotype another user based on where they're from, I feel the need to say something.

FUCKING HELL!
where did i say "all this" in my post?
AGAIN, for the second time running you've misquoted & mis-read my post before replying (or maybe third time - & it's something i've noticed happening before to, fwiw)

NO NO NO NO NO - not eveyone was running round like the band was over.

if people couldn't find positives before this week then they are simply idiotic.

i didn't directly stereotype. i can see why you thought i did, but i didn't. you can be anywhere, any nationality & still have an isolationist viewpoint. merely the fact that axlin is american doesn't make it racist. how can you defend him & accuse me when shit was going good with GnR but he chose to ignore that because it wasn't occurring in his own backyard. but suddenly GnR play 3 good shows on USA soil & they've turned the corner?! FUCKING HELL!

you are getting away from my original point, in trying to blame me for being incendiary & racist whenever it's all in axlin's post. why don't you try re-reading it & try to understand where i'm coming from?!
HE questioned what GnR's future was, but at the end he says WE all have something to hold on to. how does that work out?! the only explanation is the one i offered, and tho it doesn't paint a pretty picture it's pretty fucking accurate & otm.

Right. You said "is this all" not "all this". Symantics and I'm not wasting time with that.

If you think that a lot of people weren't questioning the future of GN'R around the Rio show, you should go check out the Rio thread again.

wasting time?! that's a laugh & EXACTLY how i feel. you started this so i have to defend myself. over & fucking over.
it's not "symantic" whenever you've misquoted & mis-read me twice. it's careless, at best.

if you wanna talk semantics how do YOU go from "Everyone running around" to "a lot of people". the reaction to Rio was completely ott but that still doesn't explain how Axlin can slip from 1st person to speaking for all us.

again you're far too interested in what i said & refusing to acknowledge the language used by Axlin.

Slash in 2010: "I have no idea how that's supposed to go. If Axl, Duff, Izzy and myself start communicating, it could go one way. It we don't, God knows."

More from Axl in 2008:

"Never thought about that. Not to offend anyone but personally I don’t have an interest and other than inducting Elton don’t quite get what it is exactly and who decides what. It seems to mean more to some than others and more so amongst fans. It’s nice to get recognition and have some form of acceptance but in regards to joining others the price is too high and just not worth it. It’s a ways away and seems a bit presumptuous to be contemplating being inducted now."

Unless Axl changes his mind, it seems to me mostly likely is that Slash peforms in some regard and Axl accepts from afar. Or maybe best case they both attend and don't peform.
