Re: Could the tide be turning
a LOT of you poo-poo it, but for me IRS was the first single
told the story of CD, but with more humour apparent than elsewhere on the album. uptempo, got loadsa squealing guitars & a killer axl scream.
finally i agree with something you have said
Re: Could the tide be turning
TWAT, with a big video, would have been way successful. It could have been epic and should have been the lead single.
The length wouldnt be a problem, there are plenty of songs that were longer played on radio.
Didn't the IRS demo get put into rotation on some stations before GN'R had it yanked?
Re: Could the tide be turning
You're all crazy. I.R.S. was a turd, even by new GN'R standards.
No way you open all those years of wait, with something like that. It would've been even worse DOA.
TWAT should've been what Axl came out of the gate with. It was his best song, appealed to Illusion-era Guns fans, and would've shown he wasn't fucking around all those years.
Then let people buy the album, and figure out there are no other UYI-styled ballads, other than maybe SOD & TIL.
