accordıng to unıversal official report more than 2.6 million copies sold at the end of january 2009

I imagine this is as close to accurate as we have for worldwide sales at the time

The Better single should've and would've gained 'massive steam' but it wasn't promoted by anyone at all.

When is the last time anything that sounded remotely like Better charted well?  I even liked the less cluttered leak versions of the song, but it was never going to drive anything.

never

whether it is the best single or not, like axlin said way back in another thread, the public likes what it is told to like - what is pushed and promoted.

had it been released right after cd song with a video it might have done much better and the album may not have dropped at that point.

the question/s then is:

was better the right second single?

or was this a coincidence and the drop was a residual effect and it was cd that was a bad first single?

were they both bad singles?

personally, i think they should have first released twat or catcher - which sound more like the gnr people grew up to.

if you are trying to reinvent your sound then you release something that sounds more modern.

I love the song, but I don't think it would've worked as a single given it's length and more complex structure than the traditional radio-friendly song.

I still think "Better" should've been the first single.

a LOT of you poo-poo it, but for me IRS was the first single

told the story of CD, but with more humour apparent than elsewhere on the album. uptempo, got loadsa squealing guitars & a killer axl scream.
