I don't know, for a band that was that big not long ago, with a dead singer to boot, there are surprisingly few Nirvana fans around. Personally I don't know anybody that still listens to them and the last time I heard them at a party was years and years ago.

I'm in the same boat dude. I don't knwo anybody who listens to Nirvana. As for radio it's SLTS and All Apologies(unplugged version) and that's it around here. yes others get on radio here and there but that's rare.

I don't think anyone is really ripping on Nirvana just saying that their legacy is quite exagerated in the media. THEY were the one band that is painted as this anti pop band yet in reality their songs were the most pop sounding songs of the genre during that era. Nirvana were hyped poster children to the grunge era the way Arcade Fire is/was to the indie scene. Both good bands both hugely overrated though based on the media's hard ons for them.  The reason the media latched on to Cobain and Nirvana was because it was easy and their first fucking hit single was titled Smell Like TEEN SPIRIT. Talk about gift wraping it for the media.

Nirvana was in fact the most marketable band based on their catchy pop songs. It's amazing that the world fails to see that. they were the poppiest of the grunge era.

That unplugged show, still gets played on those Rock request video channels frequently.

I think in the year 2000, a case could made for Nirvana being popular to Teenagers at that time than Guns'N Roses to be perfectly honest.

Uh, they are still regularly played in Tennessee and Florida. And that's modern rock stations.

I agree with misterID. I might have some opinions in here about Cobain and Nirvana being the #3 or #4 of the Seattle bands, but Nirvana's popularity hasn't wained at all.

I'm in the South and I still think I hear "Come As You Are" almost every fucking day - 6 times a day.

I think GN'R gets more play tho, but for every Jungle, PC, SCOM, NR (I hear this one the most; a UYI track)... I hear Nirvana's Come As You Are, In Bloom, Lithium, and Rape Me... just as much.

Being I was so tough on Kurt, and an obvious mark for In Utero... i'll drop greatness on you.
