Re: RnR HOF Fan Poll: GnR in the lead.
People are questioning whether RHCP should go in the RnR HOF, really...?
Only on a GN'R board...
The Chili's are HUGE, have been around forever, and have put out solid albums since their breakthrough BSSM. They're pretty highly regarded for a band that has been around forever too. They're still looked on as cool by the indie kids, as well as the old classic rock crowd.
Jane's have nowhere near the following that RHCP do, which is not to say popularity judges quality, but I could definitely see the Chili's getting in there way before Jane's ever do.
I gotta say too, I own most of the Chili's albums, but I'll be damned if you can find a stronger Greatest Hits set than theirs. Had it playing on a long road trip I did last year, and every song is a singalong classic!
Re: RnR HOF Fan Poll: GnR in the lead.
A stronger greatest hits? WOW, we must have some serious Chili's fanboys on here, because there's nothing RHCP have ever done that as reached classic territory so much that every song is a singalong classic.
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Rolling Stones
Beatles
Elvis
hell - HEART
All have far more known songs to a casual audience than RHCP.

No doubt all those bands you mentioned have killer Greatest Hits compilations, maybe I should have just said the Chili's one is up there with all of them.
I consider myself a casual RHCP fan too, and I know all the songs on their hits set. I guess they must just get more airplay here in Australia than in the US.

Yeah here in Australia I'd have said RHCP are pretty much mainstream rock that most people know....
I was a fan of Blood Sugar Sex Magic back in highschool but I never really got into all the later stuff, but Joe public on the street here sure knows those albums.
I just looked it up and they have 7 grammy awards and sold 70 million albums. Seems a legit case for nomination to me.
I think anyone getting in over GNR would be insane though. AFD is like the kind of reason you invent a hall of fame in the first place.
