Quite possibly the worst post I have ever read. the Cure have numerous timeless classic songs as well as classic albums and have had mass influence over the years. They're argueably the most influencial band on the ballot and trust me they are not terrible. They are in fact one of the best live bands ever. the Cure is a classic band and are as deserving as anyone on that list if nto more so, like it or not.

I never said The Cure couldn't get in.
I said Wenner isn't gonna trot them out there as his "big inductee" of the year. They are a secondary-group, unlike RHCP or GN'R.
the Cure is a much more important band than the RHCP in terms of what they've done and the reach of their influence. Like MisterID said The Cure is respcetd hugely among music ciritcs, industry folks, music fans and voters. The goofball teen who hears RHCP on radio will vote for RHCP while the true music fan who doesn't simply rely on radio to decide what's good will vote for The Cure. The Cure were a Stadium band and so they did and still do have mass appeal. Also the Cure never changed their style to fit on radio. They are the epitomy of alternative music and always have been. Their impact is far greater than RHCP even if they were never as popular in the mainstream. MTV has already recognized The Cure as icons with a tribute show and rightfully so. I'd go so far as to say The Cure has more classic songs and more classic albums than RHCP.

RHCP had Californication.
Before that, and after, they were Jane's Addiction.
That album is good, but its got a bit of "Love in an Elevator" about it. Not their most serious work. The Cure definitely got the artistic edge.

"Blood Sugar Sex Magik" was a pretty big one. I normally think D has an awful ear for music 
, but I agree with him.
Both "The Cure" and RHCP's will get in eventually one way or the other.

Three Days alone knock everything the Chilis have ever done out the water, but that's subjective. I was talking about popularity and fact is they were not a top tier band before that record. If they hadn't the Cure would be a fistpump get in.
Doesn't matter though. First they have to beat one of the greatest rock bands in history.
