the cure are really terrible

Quite possibly the worst post I have ever read. the Cure have numerous timeless classic songs as well as classic albums and have had mass influence over the years.  They're argueably the most influencial band on the ballot and trust me they are not terrible. They are in fact one of the best live bands ever.  the Cure is a classic band and are as deserving as anyone on that list if nto more so, like it or not.

I was watching the poll pretty closely when it was first released and it appeared that it was hacked by a RHCP voting bot at first. Damn thing was going up by one vote per second for something like 8 hours straight. It has slowed down considerably. Then there was a huge surge by the Cure which looked suspicious as hell too. That one has also slowed down. The only steady one seems to be GN'R. More casual fans out there, no rigging needed.

This.

Yup only Gn'R votes are legit while others are being rigged roll  Gimme a break you guys

i dunno i still have a hard time beleiving that GnR will get in on their first ballot...i mean i could totally be wrong and i hope i am...but i agree with Bono totally in thinking that Cure will get in, Robert Smith is like a god to alot of people...i dont care for them myself, but you cant deny their popularity, importance and influence

one chick band will get in whether its DOnna SUmmers, Heart or joan jett at least one will get in..i thought Heart already was in...what was that thing that Alice in Chains did with Heart a few years ago?

Think there's an underestimation at how popular RHCP's are. They appeal to music fans, not just rock music fans. Anything album post "Calfornication" and "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" got massive air play and still does... in the UK.

Exactly. Not only in the UK, in the whole world I would say.
I love when it rhymes...
I wish I could do that all the time!

The Cure only appeals to a niche group of people. And I say that out of the purest of respect to them and Robert Smith.

The Cure have a ton of classic songs, but do they have a Jungle? Just one? Obviously not.

GN'R are one of the biggest bands ever, and on that list -- they are the biggest. Just simple fact. They are.

There is no way in hell the Hall is gonna skip over a name like GUNS N' ROSES, for Heart & The Cure. Red Hot Chili Peppers... now that's a legit argument there. I can't fucking stand RHCP, but I do fully understand the massive impact they had.

My guess is this, if Jann doesn't think he can negotiate a full GN'R reunion, he might favor RHCP over GN'R and save GN'R for another day and continue negotiations, hoping and praying for a full reunion at the show. Because Jann is a GN'R mark, has been known as one for years, and know the HUGE deal (possibly one of the biggest in Hall history), that he would pull off if he just got Axl & Slash on a stage to speak about their band and the happy times.

I think The Cure has massive respect from the industry and voters. It's not just a nice group. They were THE alternative band of the mid 80's, post new wave generation, who's influence is still felt today. I saw it. Nearly every girl in alt rock had a Robert Smith poster on their wall. This was before and after Alt Rock when main stream. It doesn't matter one little bit if the bands they inspired suck. Nirvana basically created the pop punk movement that sucks so more ass than emo. But it says something about a group who can actually change the face of music.

The Cure has enough respect to easily get in. Deservedly so.

It would be cool to have Axl sing jungle and SCOM with the old band then have a new/old line up jam to Paradise City.

I said Wenner isn't gonna trot them out there as his "big inductee" of the year. They are a secondary-group, unlike RHCP or GN'R.

I was watching it closely. Were you? RHCP was at 33% of the overall vote at one point, which was total bullshit considering they were at around 5% just hours earlier. I refreshed it for around 30 minutes and sure enough it was going up around 60 votes per minute. Why is it that this didn't continue? Why did it only happen over a 8-10 hour period? If they really were so popular, it would have continued and they'd have over 50% of the vote by now. Someone turned the bot off and it went back to more normal voting patterns. GN'R was never going up at that rate and still isn't even today.
