Re: Could the tide be turning
back to the thread jack
so yeah i think i figured it out, i was using my ring finger on the g-string but i think shouldve been using my Middle finger DUH!!! everyone knows the middle finger goes on the g-string!
but yeah it makes the transition from the main riff part into the outro smoother ... also i'm lazy when i do it i leave my fingers on the strings and it looks like, in that vid, that slash is always taking his fingers up off the strings after he picks them
anyway just gotta take it slow and build speed i guess

hehhe...I'm sort of the opposite to metalalex...when I try and play GNR it makes me feel like I suck! So i stick to the occasional riffage here and there!!
Are you kidding? I don't consider myself a great guitarist by any means, and I've seen some of your shredding capabilities, you can outplay me dude!:mosh:

Oh, and I should probably just clear it up, I can play a lot of GN'R RIFFS now, that I couldn't when I was first learning guitar. Haven't really tackled any full songs, nor have I tried to.

Re: Could the tide be turning
I never learned the correct into to SCoM. I half ass learned it like 15 years ago and I've been running on that since, lol.
I don't play it right myself - I just whack a barre on the 12th fret. Why bother moving your fingers unnecessarily?
Re: Could the tide be turning
cuz its nigh on impossible to move to the last part of the intro if you are barred there...
btw i rejigged how i played it again last night and now its pretty smooth...i eliminated the pinky fnger
12th fret is the index, 14th fret is mostly the middle finger and the 15th fret is the ring finger..pretty sweet!

Re: Could the tide be turning
Not a full barre, just one that covers the top four strings. I've never had any trouble playing the intro or the last part, it works just fine for me...
